  1. Sounds to me like it still is! In what way, Don?
  2. Anyone have any suggestion? An early dinner might be a good alternative too. My mother-in-law will be here that weekend. We haven't seen her for Mother's Day in 6-7 years, so we're thinking about taking her out. We don't usually do this - am I wrong in assuming that most restaurants will know that children will most likely be dining out a lot that day? (Don't worry Mark, Citronelle is not currently on our list of options )
  3. I used to hate ranch dressing until I started making my own. Now it's a good thing. Oscar Mayer bologna. What is ranch dressing? I think it's a buttermilk and mayo thing. Thanks. I use Buttermilk, mayonnaise, and a little sour cream, chives, parley, s & p. Oh, and Gerber's "toddler meals." Ban them! If the kid is old enough to chew, give him table food for goodness sake.

  5. Small correction. Chinatown hasn't been Chinatown since the HOOTERS went in, not to mention Fuddruckers. There's a Fuddruckers there? Egad.
  6. The best Chinese food is in the suburbs. Chinatown hasn't really been Chinatown since the MCI center went in.
  7. We might get advance tickets. IIRC as donors we have some set aside for us, but it's generally a specific date, not just any date in the run. I'll check it out. The show this year is Much Ado About Nothing. The Sunset Seranades are fun too.
  8. That sounds like a great idea. And I'm in for the culinary bushwhacking at Full Kee. I assume they have two menus?
  9. Let's order off the menu and share. If there's enough interest in a particular item we can always get a double order.
  10. Welcome to Egullet, Nullo. What recipe are you using for the dressing? Maybe someone here can help you out.
  11. Oh good. Yet another product targeted toward moms. I swear these companies assume that our brains fall out after we have the baby and they can sell us anything.
  12. Avocado daiquiri at Palette... (Scroll about halfway down the page)
  13. I like Slim Jims, but only after heavy drinking. Reese's peanut butter eggs. Salty and chocolately.
  14. Can't do the 29th, as that is little Mr Handsome's birthday.
  15. Henry IV part 2 was OK, well acted, and of course well designed and directed, but I much preferred the staging from 1994 where parts I and II were combined. It made for a more dynamic evening. It didn't help that we saw part 1 a month ago. If I had to see the whole enchilada over again I would opt to see them back to back. I share your opinion of Ghosts. We're subscribers so we take the good with the bad, and fortunately it's mostly good. Thanks for the El Mariachi tip - we can walk there from our house and really enjoy it. The staff is great and the food is good.
  16. That's their strategy with regard to Chipotle too, isn't it?
  17. Thanks for the tip, I'll check for it there. It's a little far, but my brother just bought a house out there, so we may be going to Chantilly regularly.
  18. Our server was great, so maybe he's a new hire.
  19. We always add lime juice at home, but didn't really miss it in RM's version. Maybe we were just grateful to eat something that wasn't loaded with salt.
  20. Avocado, jalapenos, onions, tomatos, cilantro, and crack.
  21. We went with our theater companions to the Shakespeare Theater's Henry IV Sunday. Dazed by 3 1/2 hours of iambic pentameter, we staggered up 7th street in search of food, any food. We found Rosa Mexicano. My companions had the pomegranite slurpees, oops, I mean margaritas, and pronounced them passable. I opted for an under-chilled margarita, served up, in a martini shaped glass so full it was impossible to lift it without spilling on myself. It was tasty for about 60 seconds then became too warm. We ordered the guacamole (tasty) with chips (very salty). We were amused by the tableside prep - watching the waiter deftly gut and filet the poor little avocados. We liked the guac enough to get a second order. After a hearty laugh at the entree prices, we opted for a round of appetizers. Calamares were fried little bits of something with a lot of salt. Queso fundido was OK but needed spicier chorizo. Tiny shrimp and mushrooms had tasty mushrooms with flavorless shrimp, with nice crunchy picked veggies on top. The best was the coconut milk, lime, and habanero ceviche - unfortunately served with the same extremely salty chips. Desserts were a mixed bag. Tres Leches cake and apple cake were good, chipotle-chocolate cake was awful. Good coffee served in large cups, so that it's half cold before you're done with it. The bathrooms have the same tiny-sink-with-faucet-sticking-out-of-the-wall trendy design that Zaytinyah has, so that it's impossible to wash your hands without splashing water all over. (Edit to say that Scott pointed out that he was able to wash his hands twice without splashing himself, and says that I should just drink my coffee faster. )
  22. Right on. And it's More Baltimore Than Thou, Hon. Heather (has spent lots of quality time in Baltimore since 1985, and would move there if she could. )
  23. I wasn't dissing it. It's part of Baltimore for me - cold Natty Boh, Orioles at Memorial Stadium, Esskay hotdog with mustard. I wish I was there right now, in fact. Wasn't this a thread about Baltimore? Isn't Eden Center in Northern Virginia?
  24. My kids have never been there, and never will. If they want to go to an amusement park, we will take them to an amusement park. We took both kids out to Rio Grande (Tex-Mex chain) last night and sat next to a table full of little hooligans whose parents let them get up and run around. Yes, it's a family place, but we still don't let the kids out of their chairs while we are eating. One of the women at the table observed Emma and Ian sharing our squid appetizer and was curious to know if they knew what they were eating. She said her kids "don't eat anything." I was tempted to tell her that she might want to reconsider rewarding them with ice cream when they haven't eaten their meals.
  25. Is it brewed somewhere else, or just gone? Can't imagine it would have the same funky, yet oddly bland flavor brewed somewhere else.
