  1. It is, or was, available at Dollar General stores here, in the North!
  2. Yes, I love the stuff! I love all blues! Good cheddar! Brie and Camembert! I love almost all cheeses! I'm an umami addict! I adore Limburger! Limburger, anchovies, and onions! Magic!
  3. Yes!
  4. It is genius. Ateco makes them. Here and here.
  5. I find this very interesting: Source: Annual Report of 1907, by the Ontario Agricultural College and Experimental Farm, Guelph, published in 1908. Certainly NOT the American South!!!
  6. That's interesting. My mother and maternal grandmother made lots of drop biscuits—very frequently. I've literally eaten thousands of them. I've never experienced one even remotely like that. They were always VERY tender and 'fluffy.' My mom still makes them.
  7. "The crux of this problem is a brand called White Lily, whose name and logo is familiar to virtually all southerners but foreign to most people outside the region." What a bullshit article!!! I live in semi-rural upstate New York. It's a depressed and depressing area! LOL There isn't much here! I can buy all the White Lily flour I'd ever want, if I did want it, just 2 miles away! OMG! Many decades before White Lily flour was known here, my paternal grandmother was baking EXCELLENT biscuits from soft wheat flour in the mountains of north-central Pennsylvania!!! I can remember my grand-aunt, who was an excellent cook and baker in her own right, saying that nobody could make a biscuit, pancake or pie crust as well or as good as Luella—my grandmother! It's NOT just a Southern thing!!!
  8. Now I want to print some boxes!
  9. I found this: http://diyprintableboxes.com/ "Print Your Own Boxes Using Your Inkjet Printer"
  10. Yeah, seems to definitely apply to olive oil and such too!
  11. FWIW, I haven't had my screen printing outfit up and running in a long time, but when I did I ordered a lot of supplies and such—via mail order—from Dick Blick when they had sales. Looks like they have a store-front in St. Louis. 6300 Delmar Blvd. St Louis, MO 63130 https://www.dickblick.com/categories/screenprinting/
  12. Obviously not a 'Chinese' takeout box, but the process is very simple.
  13. I can't imagine there being something readily available that would be heavy enough, large enough, and food-safe—yet printable with a standard printer for use as a 'Chinese' takeout box. I think that it would have to be at least A3 size for any sort of a usable box—that's 11.7 x 16.5 inches (297 x 420 mm.) What you need is a simple screen printing set-up to print on pre-made boxes. A set-up for box printing should be very inexpensive, especially if you're only printing in one color. Multi-colors would complicate things, but, it is, of course, very doable.
  14. Yeah, that certainly is a 'thing." Unfortunately, many products/services don't make it past the announcement and email promises. We'll see!!!
  15. First announced, October 20, 2016. If it ever does come to fruition—it better be REAL good! Just a few months away, but NO specs, no anything! Uh-huh!
  16. Yeah, I saw one on display at Target yesterday.
  17. A friendly heads-up. The aluminized coating promptly flaked off—in spots and in short order—on the last USA Pan Bakeware pan I bought. That was a "USA Pan Patriot Bakeware Aluminized Steel Quarter Sheet Pan." 'Unique' feature of the Patriot line compared to their other pans (all else being equal): "Fluted surface design that resembles a waving flag- adding extra strength and durability to help resist warping" "Oven safe up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit." The pan was never used at more that 350 degrees. Purchased January 3rd, 2018. I won't be buying their products again.
  18. Side and top insulation certainly makes a lot of sense for long cooks. With good insulation, I'd assume that once target temp is reached—the steady state of power required to maintain temperature should be roughly the same for various circulators. Unless it's some wildly unique container. It's time for a new experiment. Thanks @PedroG for all the work you did!
  19. I saw a Nano yesterday at Target. It's not as small as a Joule but it's pretty darn small! Much smaller than than the older ANOVAs.
  20. I think the most recent BB&B deal I took advantage of was "$15 off a $50 Purchase." I bought an AeroPress and and a few small things that I needed. Just enough to keep the discount close to 30% They were all name brand items. Even with the 8% sales tax, it was by far the best deal I could find on any of them!!! That was about 3 years ago! LOL
  21. Our local BB&B closed very recently. This is a fairly secluded area and they did stock some stuff that wasn't available anywhere else locally. Loss of that feature is a bummer, BUT, I hadn't been in the store in many months. I even decided to avoid the 'store closing' sale. There was a time when the coupon was valuable, and I saved a lot of money on some good products. It's very sad that their business model changed so drastically.
  22. FWIW, I'm still waiting for a cookbook shipped via DHL from Waldenbooks in Horseheads, NY (about 20 miles away at the time) back in the '90s!
  23. Does anyone have a mid-sized old style pan (sweeping sides) that they're willing to sell? I see some advantages to the new style, but I want a dedicated classic French omelette pan.
  24. Also bought The Kimchi Cookbook.
