@blue_dolphin Poole's has been on my wish list forever but I wasn't enamoured enough to pay the full price. But for a $1.99... Thanks. Might have sprung for Victuals but not for full price.

Cannot stop making polenta in the Instant Pot using the bowl in bowl method. Thanks @blue_dolphin. This is a much coarser grind it worked out just as well. I topped it with some of the slow roasted tomato sauce that @ElainaA was kind enough to put into the recipe archive and a few crumbles of blue cheese. I love that umami kick in the morning.

Who would've thought of putting two different pasta sauces on the same plate? Not me until you showed me it could be done! There is a reason I'm still here after all these years.

After a long drive home from Manitoulin Island I was happy to be able to put together a quick but satisfying meal. The last of the cooked rib cap and a few Campari tomatoes came down with me. I added a slice of frozen bread, toasted and slathered with a mix of mayo and chipotle sauce (no soft butter in the house). I also had a cocktail (Maximillan's Affair) which traveled down with me in a bottle. I had to drink it without ice because my icemaker refuses to return to duty after being turned off for almost 40 days.

My question is also about feta creme but also about butterleek. Your meal looks amazing.

We are packed and on our way. One of our fridge experiments that was too beautiful not to photograph. We will try to keep you updated as we make our way south. Sorry this post is so out of sequence but I forgot to push the "submit" button. I am safely home and I'm sure that Kerry is by now. She has a half an hour further to drive. Will miss you all and will miss Manitoulin but damn it's good to be home!

Thank you. Kerry did remind me that we now have a reliable source of farm fresh eggs even down south. She has an "egg lady" in Dunnville.
-
Yes. It has been very disappointing this year in terms of farm fresh eggs. We did get some of course but nothing like we've managed to get in other years. We usually manage to take five dozen or so home but that's not gonna happen this time.

Good morning. The first thing I did this morning was close the windows. It is 14°C, windy, rainy and reminiscent of November not August. After spending 10 to 12 hours or so in emergency yesterday, Kerry was called back in this morning around 7:30 for yet another chest pain. I have my fingers crossed that she will make it home in time for us to get packed up! I cooked up the last of the open package of Max Burt bacon (left some of the cooked pieces for Kerry to nibble on), fried an egg and a tomato and called it breakfast. Should have taken the time to make a piece of toast to sop up the egg yolk.

Nothing you might recognize as dinner but I did not go hungry. I grazed on bits and bobs and this and that.

No worries.

Tiny cheese and steak quesadillas and a glass of wine. The quesadillas desperately needed some salsa and some sour cream among other things! I suspect both are within reach but also unopened! Seems a shame to open things at this stage of the game. I cannot believe that I have drank so little wine this trip. However, this one glass is almost guaranteed to put me in nap mode.

Good morning. Was woken by a thunderstorm and monsoon-like rain sometime after midnight. Managed to get back to sleep and woke this morning to evil looking skies and a brisk chill coming off the channel. Even breakfast seems a bit dreary this morning and suffers from lack of imagination. More of the rib cap which I had re-warmed in the sous vide yesterday and which Kerry threw onto the Little Green Egg after dinner. Used up the last of the little ciabatta buns in the freezer. Kerry is on call again today, her last shift this time around. We are heading Into Haweater Weekend but perhaps the weather will keep some of the craziness under control. Heard fireworks just before bed last night and listened to giggling teenagers walking along the road beneath the balcony. I think they are gearing up.

This what you are looking for?

Oh dear so I did. It was still showing in my reply window so I jumped to the conclusion that I had failed to post it. Never mind. Nothing wrong with two photographs of scallops and dessert is there?

We have still got a couple more days. But the time has gone by incredibly fast this time!

So lunch for me was a piece of toast and a glass of soda water. I spared you the photograph. I don't think Kerry did much better – – leftover soup, saltines and some cheese, I think. She worked on her computer through lunch and I worked on pulling together a grocery order for when we get home as there will be nothing in my house to eat. We are just a boring pair today!

Good morning. How quickly things change weather wise. We have gone from melting to practically freezing. It is just 16°C this morning and not expected to climb much above 20 or 21°C. Breakfast was a piece of the mushroom and leek tart that I made yesterday. I reheated it for 10 minutes in the CSO at 325°F using the steam-bake function. Kerry is working in town today at the clinic so will likely be popping in and out as time allows. After work we are planning on a trip to Pike Lake Farm to pick up some summer sausage for my daughter. Other than that I do not know what the day may hold.

I was quite positive that I had posted this last evening but apparently not. An indulgent meal of five scallops and dessert! Lisabeth (of Ultimately Chocolate in Gore Bay) sent two desserts home with Kerry and we shared each of them. Delicious.

Thanks. I had forgotten about her blog. Hours of enjoyment in my future. -
