  1. I’m rationing my blue cheese while upping my fruit intake. It’s a new diet I just invented.
  2. The plan is to remain here until August 9 or when the booze is gone Kerry says —whichever comes first.
  3. I did manage to make good inroads this but there is still enough for two more meals! But, damn, it did hit the spot. Don’t think I’ve had poutine since we were up here last.
  4. Shelby, on this you are going to have to take sides. There is no other way. Kerry does not need a pressure canner! Trust me she doesn’t! And the more I say it, the more she will be determined to have the damn thing. 😂
  5. We had errands to take care of in downtown little current and came across the crew ship docked right downtown. Perhaps this is carrying safety to the outer most limits. It’s safely docked right in the middle of downtown but they’re wearing lifejackets? I think they’re more likely to succumb to heat exhaustion than drowning.

  8. This Valdeon blue has been shouting my name since the moment I tasted it at Mickey McGuire’s. I could resist no longer. A very ripe pear and some grapes were the accompaniments. I took it out onto the balcony just long enough to get a photograph!
  9. Good morning. I have been up since 5 AM but moving very slowly. Kerry has to check in at the hospital and then I think we are heading off to do some errands and visit our infamous Flee Market. There is no Red Boat in the townhouse. On the very slim chance that the Island Jar might carry it we will check shortly. I hold out a little hope and I think under the circumstances we will forgo this experiment. I do have other fish sauce but it’s not something that appeals to me to put on steak. So this was just to let you know we are still alive here on the island and we will be posting later as/ if we have interesting things to share.

    I believe they are. I had repackaged them so I’m not a hundred percent sure but I buy only two kinds of crispbread. Wasa is one of them.
  13. You think I like negronis for the taste? It’s the only cocktail I know that matches my math skills. And you want me to start fractionating?
  14. Hubby loved cherry jam. Me — not so much. I actually made cherry jam not so long ago. It is likely aging in my beer fridge!
  15. I like my cherries raw. Never been much of a fan of cough syrup.
  16. Dessert for me. Kerry grabbed these at the grocery store because she knows how much I love cherries. And as you know, no good deed goes unpunished. So for dessert she got to return to the emergency ward for a few more hours!
  17. When you find a combination that works ... Must use up that rotisserie chicken. Tonight I chopped it up, mixed it with some chopped kimchi, tossed in a sliced scallion for colour and snarfed it back.
  18. My nerves are shot! Had to have that negroni!
  19. Friends don’t let friends drink when they are on duty. That doesn’t stop them having one themselves. An aged Negroni for an aged imbiber.
  20. May have to send Kerry back to the store for more steaks so we can do more experiments. Just kidding. I think we will try your method first. It sounds simple and effective.

  24. @rotuts Regarding the faux ageing of the steaks: Assuming we actually find the Red Boat when we complete the unpacking — I am positive we have some here— can you clarify what I am doing step-by-step, please.
