  1. Regarding the recipe errors,on the rare occasion over the years i actually use a recipe from a cook book while cooking at home ,i have often found the end result ,no matter how vigorously i stay true to the original recipe never seems to turn quite as i expected or always look like the picture in the book.So im not too worried about some of the errors, because in general i always adapt the recipe to suit my own tastes, which for me is one of the best parts about being a chef.It then becomes my dish. As far as i am aware, every cookbook i've ever owned contains many recipe errors i wasn't even aware of.I think recipes should only ever be seen as a guide, and one's creative juices should do all the rest. I personally love the book and it was worth the wait, the extra knowledge i have gained from it already is worth the outlay.
  2. Lancashire UK full time chef.Only got it this afternoon and working my way through book 2 and loving it so far, fantastic book.
  3. Until MC turns up (today hopefully) ideas in food is probably the best cookbook ive bought this year, and i have to thank a chef who is a member on here and works not to far away from myself for recommending it.
  4. My delivery date was due 8-11 April, had the email from Amazon to say they would let me know when it would be available...
  5. Really looking forward to this again, best cooking show on the telly,i actually felt sorry for adien byrne when he got beat by lisa allen last year, and nigel haworth the year before.I really like him as a chef. Ill be rooting for lisa again this year as well as tom aikens.
  6. Another mention for gary rhodes,i have had all his books at some point, most lost or lent out to other chefs, the complete cookery year is very good, very easy to follow recipes.Marcus wareing books are also very very good, nutmeg and custard being my favourite. My stand out book is cooking by tom aikens.I have been working in Lancashire uk ,around gastro pubs, hotels and restaurants for 25 years now,and this is by far the best ive found.cant recommend it enough. Previous favourites are river cafe and canteen by marco,as i posted in another thread.
  7. Great thread,i have been looking to buy one of these kits recently and got a brochure through from this site and its very good.I wonder what people think of this kit http://www.msk-ingredients.com/specialist-products.php?pid=102
  8. One heading to lancashire uk between 8th and 11th of april
  9. The book i like and use the most at work is cooking by tom aikens, this in my opinion is a bible, and about as close as it gets to the perfect book for a chef, working in my area. Previous favourite's have been the river cafe cook book and canteen by marco.
  10. Ive booked in here for my birthday in may,and really looking forward to it.I work in a new venture in leyland, and i see this as the place id like to emulate.
