  1. I love Momos! You can get them at Delhi Haat in Delhi -- I am not sure I have seen them in Mumbai
  2. Good work Rushina. It is people like you who make this place interesting! I agree with Pan about adding some more "contextual information" as you and I had discussed earlier as well
  3. My favorite comfort food. My hubby thinks this is weird but I have done it all my life -- left over rice warmed, a few tablespoons of warmed clarified butter (ghee) poured over the rice and as much sugar as I feel like -- YUMMY. I am not sure if this is customary in India -- but I like it a lot
  4. YES YES YES YES
  5. It is worth a shot. I quite liked the vegetarian choices they had -- not the regular stuff -- but a lot of authentic dishes..
  6. Washington Post has a review of this place in today's Food section..

  10. No i think the buffet is for lunch and was 9.95 per person for a LOT of food. Their dinner menu seems to be priced okay -- 9 bucks an entree --let me know how you like the food. I would like to go again to try out things from the menu. The owner did let me know that for Valentine's day they are doing a special on the different regions of India
  11. I was in DC today trying to be productive Well I happened in on a brand new Indian restaurant called Nirvana. I am doing a class for eGCI called Beginners Guide to regional Indian cooking and when I learnt that this place does regional menus (from the sweet general manager), I had to try it I was not dissappointed. Today their buffet was featuring dishes from Gujarat -- a western Indian state. The pooris (fried Indian breads) were prefect -- not oily or soggy. The menu was all vegetarian -- the eggpant with potatoes and the spicy and sweet lentil curry -- yum! They are located on 1810 K street NW
  12. I am not sure how true this is -- but it certainly is interesting "If you boil an egg while singing all five verses and chorus of the hymn, 'Onward Christian Soldiers.' it will be cooked perfectly when you come to Amen." Letter to the Editor, London's 'Daily Telegraph'
  13. Edward -- welcome. You certainly will bring a lot to this forum. We are all excited to have you here. Yes, I have done private classes at people's homes -- it is a lot of fun. I dont do as many as I used to though Tell us more about your class.. would love to hear more. How did you like Julie Sahni's class??
  14. I have also heard some cooks refer to methi seeds as "maple-bitter". Incidently, the seeds are used in the production of artificial maple syrup to capture that "maple" flavor. By the way... My name is Edward and I am new to this forum. I live in Northern Virginia and teach Indian cooking in the Baltimore/D.C. area. I have known of egullet for a while but did not join until this weekend. Now I see what I have been missing out on! From what I can see you guys are a great group. I am really looking forward to participating. Welcome Edward. Do tell us more about yourself. What kind of courses do you teach? I live in Northern VA as well Welcome to eGullet and to the India forum
