Here is a recipe from King Arthur Baking for sourdough cinnamon rolls. I haven't tried it but have gotten a lot of good recipes from KAB. https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/blog/2019/12/02/sourdough-cinnamon-buns

I did not buy it. But perhaps someday I will get a freeze dryer. Still not convinced that I would find it useful. Would like to try one out someday. Need a lending library of kitchen gadgets. 😉

Yesterday, I saw a small HarvestRight freeze drier at Costco for $1,599.99! Did not know that Costco was carrying this item. It’s approximately $500 dollars less than purchasing directly from HarvestRight. Now I have a sense for how tiny their small unit is. Photo I screen captured from Reddit: Also found a video with details of what is included with this Costco freeze drier bundle

When I freeze, I cut the panettone into slices double wrap them in plastic wrap, put wrapped bundles of slices in aluminum foil and then into the freezer. Then I thaw a slice at a time. Has worked well for me.

Haven’t been to as many high end chocolate shops as Kerry but all the ones that I have been to in the USA, Canada, and Europe have clearly listed their prices. My chocolate sales brochures also include prices.

Whipped shortbread thumbprints from "Jam Bake" by Camilla Wynne. First recipe that I have tried from this book and they are delicious! -
Wonderful selection of treats! Surprised that there are no marshmallows this year. Happy Holidays!

My two boxes of traditional panettone from Goûter! Enjoyed a slice with breakfast Saturday and Sunday. Have not tried toasting it or heating it, may try that if it starts to stale. Bringing the second panettone to the family holiday party -- if it hasn't been finished before then 😉 @Alleguede hard to believe but I think that you are right and this batch is even better than last years!

NYC restaurant, deli, bakery, chocolate, and confections recommendations

Thank you. Always good to have a recommended steakhouse (especially one that has good lamb)! All these suggestions are improving the odds that we’ll have some great meals. Is it possible to get into Keens without a reservation? -
NYC restaurant, deli, bakery, chocolate, and confections recommendations

@weinoo Thank you for all the wonderful suggestions! I am definitely interested in getting a good black & white, rye bread, and rugelach! Orawasher & Breads Bakery are now on the list. Great to have your bagel suggestions. I will definitely stay away from those faux hipster bagels -- traditional options only for me. I'll save your bread bakery suggestions, much appreciated, I suspect we'll be eating out for every meal. Would be wonderful to pick up a baguette and some cheeses or pate for a meal but I think that will be another trip. Any other favorite places at Essex market? I'm now planning to visit Formaggio Essex. Thank you for the cocktail suggestions in FiDi, sounds like a good way to end the evening. I'll check the menus at Cervo's and Eel bar. Thank you for the gift link to the Times article. This trip will be with my husband's family and an assortment of eaters - adventurous to picky. I've sold them on Russ & Daughter's Cafe! Not interested in fine dining for this trip. A few in the group have never been to NYC so looking for some traditional fare as well as good local food. I am sure that they will want to get pizza. Don't know if they will be interested in Katz's Deli. -
Did you make your own pistachio paste? Which pistachio paste did you use?

I’ll be in NYC at the end of December and am looking for recommendations of places I should try. What do you suggest? Staying in the Financial District but will be traveling around Manhattan to do the tourist thing. World Trade Center memorial, Broadway show, Staten Island Ferry, Empire State Building / Top of the Rocks / ? Observation building, Rockefeller Center tree, department store holiday displays, etc.. Only food stops currently on the list are Russ & Daughters Cafe and Stick With Me Sweets. Interesting in visiting Lady Wong after seeing so many posts from @KennethT.

FedEx has my panettone, should get it today or tomorrow!

@Smithy thank you for taking all the packaging photos. I was planning to do that but did not have time today. I agree with you, I also got the A4 in blue and I thought it would be more blue. I actually looked at mine a few times in different lighting to verify that it was blue -- for a while I wondered if the sent the white cooker instead of the blue. They did a brilliant job on the packaging - lots of custom fit padding and bags - great design. I plan to start playing with it this weekend -- breakfast on the flat top.

That is odd. I got an auto email confirmation from Gouter and the next business day human correspondence. But email can always have issues… I know a bit of how email gets routed from one address to another and I am amazed it works as well as it does.

Cake strips are a technique. 🙂 Go with whichever method works best for you.

Indeed. I'm also thinking this will be a fun toy. I'm hoping to get as much (or even more) enjoyment out of it than Anna did. I reread the A4 Box Cooker topic and it was rather bittersweet -- I miss Anna and her postings. I'm looking forward to getting my A4... thinking about using it to serve some appetizers at a holiday party, take it on a picnic, maybe use it for a pseudo-raclette grill/meal. Also hoping that the accessories will go on sale again soon so that I can get them too!

Here you go... I found three QVC video clips on the A4 Cook Box. https://youtu.be/GWZpxTbWW8U?si=mDdMNxYSqLrP90JF https://youtu.be/JIAdBFp6fbk?si=44wxmuDHvqxXumfg https://youtu.be/M6mSGr7NADA?si=5nrDTVTiO6CHZHR3
