Bless him. And what a joy…a kid with a curious palate!

That sent me to the Kroger website to see if theirs are, yet. I've been watching; expect them to go on sale before July 4. I plan on picking up two or three for the freezer.

White bean and good tuna (from Misfits) salad with capers, lemon juice, a little extra olive oil and a bare splash of white balsamic vinegar. And leftover papadums and tamarind sauce from last night's Indian.

Because @Kim Shook reminded me on FB I should post this here: I will never again run a 16-oz mug of coffee through the Keurig without putting a mug underneath the spout. On the other hand, I now have a clean countertop.

@Shelby, in Kansas, do y’all refer to soybeans planted after wheat as “wheat beans”? I’ve used the term around people unfamiliar with farming and gotten puzzled looks. I assume, too, the beans are no-till, as there wasn’t any wheat stubble burning or turning under going on. Down here, farmers usually burn off the fields (smoke clouds drifting across the highway will cause at least one major traffic accident a year) and then disk before replanting. I also have picked up the regional argot of having X many acres planted to (crop), as opposed to having (crop) planted on X many acres.

Interesting that most folk seem to jump to sardines and anchovies as top exemplars of canned fish. I don’t know that my pantry has ever been without canned tuna.

Y’know, it’d be awright. I went to church this morning. Was getting ready, brushed my hair, and looked to grab makeup. Thought, “Nah, I can’t be bothered.” Went ahead on. -

Come on down. I got leftovers. And lots of ice cream. Pie warms well in the microwave. -

Bought blackberries at the farmers market today. There will be blackberry cobbler tomorrow! -
@Teronms, I use what is possibly the easiest form of gardening — raised beds. The beds are made of 2 x 12s made into a 4 x 8 box, open bottom, that sits on the ground. Several layers of newspaper go in the bottom, and they’re filled with a 50-50 mix of topsoil and compost. Initial investment to get beds built and filled was probably $500 (I have five of them now, one of which is a cold frame). I grow tomatoes, squash, zucchini and cucumbers. Usually have enough tomatoes to can.

I actually cooked last night, first time in bout three weeks. Niman Ranch pork chops, marinated and roasted in the CSO over fresh new potatoes, and zucchini fritters from my first zucchini harvest. No pics because I forgot.

For a while, I bought Kona coffee from a farm owned by a local cardiologist whose wife is from Kauai. He bought a farm that had been in his wife’s family, had the green beans shipped here, roasted them here, and sold them through a local coffee shop and via mail order. I believe he’s since sold the farm. He sold it as Kona Cloud coffee. Medium roast. Good stuff.

On my annual trip to the beach, we bring or go shopping for stuff for breakfast and lunch. Evenings, we go out. We may, once during the week, go to brunch somewhere, but in general, I’m at the beach for sun and sand.

Crock pot does. I’ve never tried the IP on slow cook.

I have a Simple Human stainless bin with a foot thingy that opens the lid, and two compartments inside. Odd size, so I order bags from Amazon. This one. Be assured I did not pay $250 for a trash can; I bought one someone else had and didn’t like.

Thanks for that, @curls. As Anova informed me I likely needed the thermostat replaced on my old Anova, I just took this discount and ordered a new one.

@Maison Rustique — some eG’ers on the East Coast have reported significant quality problems with Misfits. However, @Shelby (Kansas) and I (Arkansas) have both been very pleased with quality. I think it may depend on which distribution center your order comes from, and I’d venture you would draw from the same one she and I do.

What a great idea! And I have all the makings…

Believe I shall make a pilgrimage to the Asian market and stock up.

I am always terrified to read this thread when I see Jo has posted.

Today's haul: fewer veggies since it's garden and farmers market season. Pantry stuff, including cornichons. Tomato paste, popcorn and cookie brittle, along with balsamic glaze and two kinds of tuna in olive oil. And a tin of holiday shortbread (hoping it doesn't date from Christmas!) Meat choices. Mahi, pork chops (stacked), merguez, chicken breasts and thighs. Not pictured, two kinds of apples, pears. Lemons, limes, and green onions. That ran, to the best of my recollection, just over $100.

So much depends on what and how you cook. I would want my CSO, my stand mixer, and my food processor. Beyond that, a small range of pots and pans, a handful of good knives and cutting boards, and I could function adequately.
