@Shelby and @lindag thank you. @lindag there won't be any turkey served, just assorted appetizers. So, i'll give this a go. Trial run first, of course!

@lindag if I was closer, I'd come over for a toasted slice or two. Looks delicious.

Would this work as an appetizer? This building is having a holiday get-together and I need to bring an appetizer. Our building has a large number of Jewish people who will be attending. Does this dish meet their dietary requirements? I'd like to bring something everyone can eat.

@quiet1 we don't care for Turkey either so we always have capon. The breast doesn't seem to dry out the way Turkey does. They range in size between 6 to 8 pounds and are delicious. Unstuffed, they cook in about an hour. They have a small frame and so there is lots of meat on them. If that is to small for your group, Norm's suggestion of a ham would be good too.

@Pan Do you plan to ship to Canda? So many sites don't.

Dinner tonight was smoked salmon over rosti with French green beans and salad. That blob of sour cream looks like a face, dontcha think? Too bad his left eyeball kinda popped out of it's socket.

Thank you. I have never had or heard of Alouette cheese, but we do have Boursin which I think must be similar and I just happen to gave some. Thank you for responding.

Can you elaborate on the mushroom stuffing?

Got all excited when I saw this as my husband loves hot horseradish which we are hard pressed to find here. Went to Amazon.ca and naturally, they don't carry it.

@Darienne OTOH, all our fairs ever seem to offer up in the way of food are French fries, with or without gravy and hot dogs.

@robirdstx Thank you I'll have to try it. I always have Patak's Mango Cooking Sauce and their Spicy Butter Chicken Cooking Sauce on hand. You might like those as well.

I appear to be a hybrid of raisin lover/hater. While I prefer golden raisins to dark ones, I like them in moderation. I detest raisin squares, because the raisins are too concentrated. On the other hand, I love Trader Joe's cinnamon raisin bread. And when I make butter tarts, I like a few, no more than 6, in each pastry. For Halloween, the last few years we lived in the house we always gave out Orville's microwave popcorn packets. The kids loved them. I remember one kid excitedly saying, "Oh boy, popcorn"! Before that, we used to give out Oh Henry and Crispy Crunch chocolate bars. For obvious reasons. As for me, I hated getting apples. And even worse than just apples were candied apples which I loathe to this day. I don't remember getting raisins, but if I did, I would have eaten them one slow raisin at a time.

Is the cream ultra pasteurized? (I'm going to Ogdensburg tomorrow and plan on hitting up Aldi's and Price Chopper so thought I'd ask. Its also why I'm re-reading this thread, to see what is being recommended.)

I used the mini just last night to partially steam some potatoes before roasting them in duck fat. I love that little pot and because of It's size, it lives in a corner on the counter for easy access.
