  1. If you have to go to Lobster House to eat, have a steamed lobster - they do that fine...
  2. Tomato sauce with chipotle, add some meatballs Corn chowder with some puree added in Tortilla soup
  3. oh dear, I hope, foryour sake, that you never want to eat at a 3 michelin star resto in Paris! Brescd01 - been there, done that, in our case, the owner/manager comandeered one of his staff to stay with our dog, under the awning, safe and dry, while we went inside and ate our dinner within view - huge brownie points! .
  4. We got there early and sampled several stands, lines were not that long, even at Salt Lick - but as it neared 1pm the lines were very long - Outside Tabla there was a El Verano Taqueria stand with excellent carnitas tacos and corn with mayo, queso fresco and chile powder - sad to find out, they only oherwise exist at Citifields... As we were having our tacos for "dessert" we saw a hand truck go by with 4 pig bodies heading to one of the stands, some little kids were squealing! I was also amused to see the lonely hot dog vendor on a side street towards Park Ave, what, did he think he could compete?! Did the area clear out with the rain?
  5. That wasn't too bad, I liked Matt Moran - is that still on?
  6. You should see him in person.... yowza...
  7. Any idea if there are any Kosher kitchens that rent-out? Looking for a place to do some catering out of... Thanks!

  9. I think your best bets in the area are: La Sorrentina (Italian) on Bergenline in North Bergen Brooklyn's Pizza in Edgewater (Target mall River Road) Sabor for higher end Latin (North Bergen River Road) Turkish: Beyti Kabab Argentinian: Chimichurri Grill on Bergenline Roast Chicken: Pollos a La Brasa Mario (Bergenline @43rd) There are a lot of good (not great) Cuban, Columbian, Mexican, etc places on Bergenline Ave. I tried a bunch and they are all decent and inexpensive but I never found any to be outstanding. My favorite is a Cuban restaurant on the corner of 46th and Bergenline called Manollos La Cachita which is very good for fried red snapper / broiled filets of fish. They have a full menu but I generally try to stick with the fish. Give those a try. Just stay away from the PF Changs, Chart House, ETC Keba ← Do you know if Chimichurri Grill has moved? or is closed? We just spent a good half hour walking from 70 - 79th street in Bergenline (according to search it's on 77th) but could not find it?
  10. I'm in, we're moving back to NY and that kind of thing is right up my alley... Anyone else?
  11. It's on tomorrow Aug 11 and 12 in Moore Park
  12. Mestizo is the most authentic Mexican in London, bar none.
  13. El Gaucho, one at Chelsea Framer's Market and one at Old Brompton Road - Argentine beef on a wood fire grill Le Relais de Venise in Marylebone, steak frites, no choice of cut, but good sauce
  14. Also no problems here with France Soir, but we used to go in every week as we lived aroudn the corner and they always had a table for us
  15. Kingsleys has a MUCH better atmosphere, the room of Prime is below ground sort of like a catacomb, a nice catacomb, but a little sad...
  16. Julian and gmerrell, you were spot on with Prime! Great meat, great wine, and more importantly, great service, something which seems to be sorely lacking in Australia in general... WIll definitely be going back

    "Behind You"

    HOT OIL!!
  18. Maybe try calling a restaurant that serves it and ask for their supplier? I think I may have seen them at Tokyo Mart in Northbridge, but not positive...
  19. If you are frying shellfish, re-using the oil may not be a great idea if the french fries you put in next will be eaten by someone allergic to shellfish - I have seen a reaction happen -

    Dinner! 2008

    Que rico!!!
  21. Julian, Crow's nest is right up the road, and I have passed La Grillade several times, maybe it's time to give that a try too... I see a lot of steak in my weekend! I did not realise that Kingsleys Wolloomooloo is not part of the whole thing? When they pick up the phone they ask which location you want... I figured they just had 2 restos in the city - I like to lsit outside and ook at the $$$ boats!
  22. Love Kingsleys, we were just there last weekend at the Woolloomoolloo one, might try Prime next - that 1 kilo steak sounds a bit much, plus I'm not that crazy about Wagyu anyway... Thanks!
  23. Is there a good steakhouse in Sydney? Have been craving a really big, good steak...
  24. We actually used the side door into the complex, and walked in directly from the bankside - then all you see is Rockpool to your left and Nobu to your right, not such bad sights, I thought! We really enjoyed it - I'm a big fan of Ubon in London and I thought this came quite close, can't wait to go back

    Dinner! 2008

There are a few good options for mexican in London now - Now, as much as I love Sydney, the state of meixcan food here is MUCH worse than London!! Try Mestizo when you're in London http://www.mestizomx.com/pages/home.html To get back on topic - Dinner tonight will be macaroni and cheese and hot dogs, we're having American cravings!
