  1. actually i thought it was me.
  2. i think i remember my grandfather liking it. i've never been.
  3. we went to finks today, and bumped into none other than the perlows and their friends. jason took the liberty of ordering a side of the "Screamin chicken" hot sauce for me. it's the hottest on the menu and it was really good. that jason, he sure likes the hot stuff. the 12 oz burger was great. huge and crusted nicely. good fries as well. the baked beans were some of the best i've ever had. now if fink could only figure out how to get some tables in that spot, we'd really be in business. i'm assuming you could bring beer to the place. i sure didn't need any this morning, but ribs and beer are right up my alley. we were pleased to hear that they serve breakfast all day long. that's very cool. for the record, i noticed the blurb about smoking/meat color.
  4. i'm not sure what you mean by "over there", but the ironicalness of my comment was not lost on me.
  5. also in ridgewood: 28 oak has some tables. bistro italiano, or whatever it's called, has a nice patio with a bunch of tables.
  6. ya don't say. let's cut to the short list: what argument *aren't* you waiting for.
  7. for the record, i generally love "steamed" burgers a la white castle, white manna, etc.
  8. thanks to paul and egullet, i now know more than i ever wanted to about media and jewish things.
  9. went to finks for the first time this weekend. the 3/4 lb burger is quite good. and with their huge selection of sauces, there're plenty of options for fry dipping. you gotta love it. oh, and fink had phish on the stereo. it was a live track actually. so, you know, that's pretty cool. well, i *think* it was live. oh it doesn't really matter, now does it.
  10. the place is just horrible. if they put just a tiny bit of effort into it, it would be great. janice bistro in ho-ho-kus has 2 table out fronts. kind of a small spot. the ho-ho-kus inn has seating outside on a patio. pretty nice actually. as you suggest, many many places in hoboken have outdoor seating, mostly on the sidewalk.
  11. i don't want to come off as argumentative, but none of the places in ridgewood qualify as "fine dining" in my eyes.
  12. most of the korean places that i've been to in NJ always have made me feel rushed. i would suggest that picking a place very carefully for a large group would be a requirement. there is a place down near new brunswick, on route 1 i think. it is korean, and it is very very big. they probably have a private room even. they were very nice to me and my "american/white/italian/jew/irish" friends, even though we came in varying degrees of "whiteness". it might be worth looking into.
  13. but i can play one on egullet.
  14. yes, koreans hate americans regardless of their color.
  15. is this simply a safety dance measure? or does it have a positive impact on the texture of the final product. 'cause i ain't so worried about going crazy with safety.
  16. having been friends and having many friends in the industry, this fact is not lost on me. at all.
  17. Present company included. But I just blame it on my new laptop. Works in my mind. of course. you know, i couldn't wait to get home tonite because i thought this might offend some folks here. obviously it wasn't meant to, and i'm glad you took it that way. ok, i feel better.
  18. additionally, from what i've seen on board likes this, chefs, cooks, and restaurant employees are not exactly the most gifted writers. it would be painful to have to read a review from most chefs every week.

    Fresh herbs

cakewalk, check out this thread for a better description of the tin foil method. i know there is also discussion on this on the Dinner thread, but it's too damned big to search on. you may want to page through though. although, the above thread was an accurate desription of what i did with the foil method. good luck, and let us know what happened.
  20. i'm missing the part where there is no respect being given. can you expound on that a bit?

    Fresh herbs

i've made salads completely out of herbs. dress with a little evoo, lemon juice, s/p. wow. it's quite a side dish. wrap some fish in foil with lemon slices and herbs. throw in oven for 12 minutes. yaaaay!! shove them under the skin of your chicken breast or whole chicken.
