  4. yes, 35 dollars included an enormous amount of food and variety. judging by how packed the place was at lunch, i can't imagine that it isn't impossible to get out of there for less than 20 dollars, especially at lunch.

  12. that was some super sushi. i generally don't like my raw fish seared at all, but the tuna, pictured above, was just perfect. just barely seared. all the wines were great. lreda managed to bring a chardonnay that i actually enjoyed! it's been a while since i've enjoyed chardonnay. and the ice wine (sauvignon blanc) was a perfect dessert.

  15. dratts. i missed the thrust of this thread. with all of these clubs around egullet, it's hard to know where one truly fits in. but i'll start eating smoked salmon if that helps. only because ExtraMSG says i'm crazy if i don't.
  16. ted would be great. but his whole shtick is basically offending people. i'm not sure he'd reach the demographic that FTV would want. but yeah, it'd be great seeing him skin rabbits that he shot in his yard and then cooking them for dinner that night.

  22. perhaps the reviewer is focusing on the bad points, as UP and Rocco need a good lashing. i haven't been in about 6 months, but when UP is "very good", it's "very fucking good." edited for clarity
  23. UP was a very exciting restaurant for quite some time. i'd say that it's still pretty exciting overall, but as lxt suggested earlier, the competition for that particular market has gotten pretty fierce. to suggest that Rocco isn't a good chef just seems way off base.

  25. i don't know if it's an aversion, but i don't like cooked salmon very much. i'll shove it down my throat if it's raw, however. as far as stinky, the stinkier the better (although this wasn't true a few years ago). other than that, the smell of Southern Comfort still makes me gag. one too many chug/vomit sessions in college, i suspect.
