Time saving conveniemnce I do take for granted. I have done two complete kitchen renos while living in the houses and limped by with electric fry pan and dishes in bathtub or on front lawn. As a teen I got a reprint of https://www.amazon.com/Housekeeping-Containing-Contributions-Housewives-Distringuished/dp/B000GU4QEA and loved the cooking stories in Little House On The Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Also as an adult Edna Lewis The Taste of Country Cooking

Locally big shake-ups as many converting to drive-thru. They have to prove no roadway obstruction should line snake onto road.Seems to negate the communal aspect such as it was.

I've used two. Real Naturals and another whose name escapes me. But they do not have the other ingredients like the LA Times ones. I hd never seen them promote a product like that. The demise/desperation o newspapers? I use it almost daily - nice to sprinkle on so many things.

I needed a laugh. Los Angeles Times email just now promoting a spice blend. A dry chili crisp with citrus notes. Oh my. https://www.latimes.com/food/story/2023-10-15/chili-crisp-california-heat-spice-blend-la-times-burlap-and-barrel#:~:text=California Heat was inspired by,that you can sprinkle everywhere.&text=How do you capture California, love to cook and eat.
I stock a dry chili crisp but not at that proce. I'd try a sample bag,

My parents are visiting over the weekend, and my father is very much into soups. Made a big batch of curried pumpkin soup and and even larger batch of duck phở, the latter being our dinner tonight.
Duck broth with aromatics, leg meat, bean sprouts, rice noodles, cilantro & mint. Sriracha later added …
No complaints 🤗
Those look like udon noodles or did you get thick tapioca/rice ones?

Also made my standard water chestnuts wrapped in bacon. If I don't make them someone always asks why I didn't.
I mentioned a similar to neice - but water chesnut goes inside date & then bacon wrapped. She said they do it with a chunk o pineapple inside.

Wow. Sago palm seeds are lethal. You ate them?
Google around there are various varieties - not all toxic. I don't like them mostly because peopke would donate them wanting a donation veritication for IRS and nobody wanted to buy them.

Variation on Mango Masala Curry with sweet potatoes, mango (not too ripe to make it not too sweet and have some sourness ), onions, garlic, curry powder, garam masala, cumin, curry leaves, black mustard seeds, coconut milk, cashew nuts
Did you pound the cashew nuts or leave them whole? They can be subtle. I would love one day to see one in situ - the sorta nipple on an apple like fruit,

There is another topic here somewhere here I posted being in line behind a gorgeous tall slender woman and her hub pushing a cart packed with pennetone - Rite Aide maybe. I tilted my head in wonder and he said - she loves it.. The new diet ;

Goldfish Limited Edition pumpkin spice grahams - I just tried them yesterday. They are not overly sweet, which makes them more addictive. The goldfish are a little larger in size than the standard crackers.
OMG they are inculcating the toddlers who will be sneaking mom's pumpkinspice latte next

I have had alligator a few times, deep fried nugget-style. To me, it tasted like a river smells. Not horrible but not very good.
Has to be combined when done thusly w/ dipping sauce w/ strong taste >spice, acid, mayo
