I am kicking myself. All those years of mustard everywhere and I've never used the flowers. We are eradicating it as an invasive and it is also scarce now due to drought. Must take advantage when things are abundant like the wild fennel too!

So a Liptauer spread. Nice. I also like those dehydrated in dips though the fried shallots from Asian or South Asian markets are nice also.

Your Daily Sweets: What Are You Making and Baking? (2017 – )

"Survivor bias" - love it. Good job!!! -
My favorite house made kimchi from a local Korean market is young radish which uses the daikon and the leaves as you show, I also like keeping a big pot of radish in the yard for the leaves. They sprout so quickly and produce well. I just snip to use in salads and soups. I've never used the dried form you show.

Grilled chicken thighs are a favorite of mine. If you had the cashews how would they have been incorporated - a paste, sprinkled on? Beets, feta and pecans always nice and the potato salad high flavor would work for me as well.

Well Rooster is from Los Angeles... I'd imagine from fozen otherwise the starch might glop? Be the guinea pig ;

Nice idea. More to the meaty or the flaky side? Thinking meaty.

Our corn was the best I've had in years and someone brought tomatoes that were divine. Could have done with just the two items.

Thematically nailed it with the bison!

Me too. My preference is for aa deep dark honey. Our bees forages on coastal chaparral, eucalyptus, and frit trees incl citrus memories...

My question as well on the flavor profile. It looks like it has been creamed https://beewellhoneyfarm.com/creamed-honey-101/#:~:text=Creamed honey is a type, creamy and easy to spread.

Hey vagabond kids/explorers = cool. Your plan sounds classic American - esp the lawn Fire pit, marshmallow roast, fireworks in the distance?

It was a madhouse at Kroger this morning and I went at 7:45am. Carts piled to more than overflowing, some trying to push 2 carts! All I wanted was hot dogs and buns and corn, and a cabbage for slaw. I got in and out quickly. Of course the extreme seniors went to Costco (!) and came home with 48 eggs (which I'd also purchased a dozen of) and a mega pack of 60 hot dogs they rarely eat "they were on sale". I have relocated my gathering to a friend's garden patio. The corn I got looks great - looking forward. And the dessert still dependent on Farmers Market by a friend. Y'all have NO plans???

@CentralMA Nice find on the Krunkake iron and love your encouraging the young baker. At least where I am (Los Angeles) going out to browse is not routine yet. Caution is in the air, which I respect.

I laughed when stepmother bought a small one from BB&B but she uses it almost daily. Today it was carrots w/ olive oil rub as "chips". She likes zuke fries in it and even toasts bread/cheese/coldcut ssandwiches in it. Easy clean. Hers is light so even though there is lots of counter space she parks it on a shelf in the pantry.

Yes tricky area. You are dealing with not only a skill set but the existing condition of the old guys. We did all new with a cabinetmaker I trusted. Past tense. The cabinet construction was fine but the paint (white). Chipping beginning with year 2. Spare me the litany of California paint regulations. Wish I'd insisted on the factory ones (China?) but was not my call unfortunately.

Lowes was the winner for us. They price matched - and THEY did the research while we browsed. I have previously stated my horrid HD experiemces.

My favorite purveyer is Santa Monica Seafood. They really were started by fishermen from "The Old Country". Came to Southern California to fish on the tuna boats that stayed out for weeks and weeks. Mostly out of San Pedro. (went to school with the kids). They are the suppliers for the only two retail fish counters I trust. Take the guys to tour their facility and do education. Worth checking out. Their sustainability statement is impressive (to me) https://www.santamonicaseafooddockdirect.com/sustainability/

Out here same experience with American-Chinese - no pickles.. Pickley little plates in the various regional Chinese restaurants - yes. I don't think Korean, at least in L.A., in my experience, has become Americanized, so banchan mandatory. There are a few steam table mall ones but they are the bland exception.

Lot of love here. On our central coast they are in the bulk bin at every grocer.

You mean a grill with the pulley to raise and lower. That is what Central Coast Santa Maria looks like here. And must have pinquito beans. @rancho_gordo has them

Yes I thaw in fridge and then set on plate in fridge with salt or touch of soy, no cover. Texture to my liking

I was just reminded that if FM vendor offers a taste of excellent watermelon, that will edge out the berries.

July 1 today threw me so Sunday is the 4th. My little group is going simple. All vaxed. Lipton onion dip with sturdy ridge chips - Trader joes and I think Costco make some sturdier than Ruffles. Hot dogs (steamed no grill), buns toasted stove top, mustard, relish, chopped onions. Stovetop grilled jalapenos. A hearty potato salad with plenty of eggs and mustard and green onions - served room temp. Corn if it looks good at market. Weather is temperate so we can eat on a patio. Berries that look good at our Sunday Farmers Market with freshy whipped cream. Packages coconut tea biscuits on the side for crunch. BYOB. I'll use the last lemons from our tree and do lemonade, and iced tea.
