    Dinner! 2007

Nothing too special tonight...pretty much white girl tacos...jazzed them up with some freshly fried corn tortillas
  2. Calipoutine, I've read your previous blogs and look forward to this one. As for granite, not sure what your current situation is, but I previously had tile and formica, and got this product called, Granite Transformations...http://www.granitetransformations.com/ They put it right over your existing countertops. I've had them for about 2 years and really love them. They are stain resistance, crack resistance and heat resistance. Truly worth the money, slightly less than granite, without the destruction of your kitchen.
  3. That is one of the funniest things I have read all day. I'll do with you!

    Dinner! 2007

Here is last night's spaghetti and meatballs dinner. It's Tyler Florence's Ultimate recipe, and let me tell you, these meatballs rocked. The picture doesn't really do them justice...but after they are browned, they are put in a baking dish with tomato sauce, which was really fresh and clean tasting, if that makes any sense (with San Marzano tomatoes) and sprinkled with mozzarella cheese and then baked. Oozzy goodness. The recipe that I followed to the letter, said it made 10 meatballs, but I really yielded about 19 slightly larger than a golf ball size. They would have been softball size if I only made 10! Along side, we had roasted garlic (that I tried with fresh basil) and pugliese bread
  5. instead of having to buy a bunch of dishes, consider consulting a party supply place that you can rent dishes from. It's not too expensive and you don't have to wash them, just scrape off the food.

    Dinner! 2007

kbjesq, I am fairly new to the dinner thread, and was a little nervous at first, but you know what, no one ever comes out and say's, "hey that sucks" or "what were you thinking?" Sometimes you get good comments on your pictures, sometimes you don't get any comments. Don't take that personal, since some might be just cruising through really quick and no time to comment, or else they aren't in the mood to comment. I know that since I have been posting pictures, I have made it a "hobby" of mine to get the best picture possible. There is a thread on another forum here that talks about the way to maximize taking pictures, which offers a great amount of help. Post away, you never know when someone will be inspired to try something like you are cooking. I've tried several things from here, since I use this thread as inspiration to cook something out of my normal routine. Good luck!

    Dinner! 2007

Last night's dinner consisted of Ling Ling frozen potstickers. We drizzled hot chili oil on top Then my boyfriend did a hybrid Hot and Sour soup from America's Test Kitchen. To balance the flavors, a nice pinot rose from Santa Barbara area. You may remember this winery from "Sideways". We went and checked it out last year while down there attending a wedding in September.

Bella, Here is their website. It appears that you can order them online. They show a bunch of stores in SF area that they sell it at. Scroll down to the bottom of the locations page. It's really really good. http://drbobsicecream.com/index.html Thanks Kim for the compliment.

    Dinner! 2007

Here is our dinner tonight. We had a delayed Memorial Day BBQ, since we hung out with friends last night. We started off with a little cheese and sourdough bagettes. I was inspired because of you all here (food blogs, etc.) to try some new cheese, and tried the Beechers which I really liked. The other cheese was also very good too. Dinner was grilled New York steak, baked potatoes and roasted vidalia onions with butter and balsamic. The steak is topped with a chimachurra sauce that a friend gave me yesterday, that he and his sister in law produce and sell. It is very very good and fresh tasting. Although I am stuffed, I may have to break down and have a couple of spoonfuls of this for something sweet, which if you've never had it, is fantastic.

    Dinner! 2007

Everyone's meals have looked wonderful. I've been lurking, but uninspired for food lately. Here are some meals that have been sort of photo worthy. Bf made a couple of pizzas a while back, they were quite yummy. Pizza crust was from BBA Pesto Pizza Pepperoni Pizza Julia Child's Roast Chicken, Potato Dauphinois and butter glazed carrots. That chicken was high maintanence, if you've never made it before. chicken pasta inspired by Sheila's blackened chicken pasta from the Cheesecake Factory.
  20. Peter, I may have missed this, but what does a fiddlehead taste like? It almost look like it is related to broccoli?
  21. Peter Looking forward to your blog...I love your spice rack and the butcher block. You mentioned cat toys, will we get to see the felines? Have fun.
  22. Those are great pictures.....I really wish I could have a homemade corn tortilla right now. Thanks for sharing.
