  1. I have never cooked for a "chef" but I have cooked for people that know how to cook really really good, or are wannabe chefs. They seemed to have good feedback. If a real chef came to my house, it would be a little nerve racking, but I would also look at it as an opportunity to learn...what was good, what was bad, what could have been done better. It's hard to offend me.
  2. Thank you Klary for doing this foodblog even though you were under the weather. Your desserts certainly looked wonderful, as everything else.
  3. Klary I recently tried sweetbreads for the first time, hesitantly, I may add. They were sauteed with bacon and mushrooms in a madeira sauce. I really liked them. Your cheesecake looks FANTASTIC....great picture with the wine glasses and the slices of cheesecake in the background. Hope you are feeling better.
  4. The mangorita's sound great! Is it foie gras in the picture?
  5. Chufi, I have always enjoyed your Dinner posts, and have read your past two blogs. Looking forward to the adventures of this week.

Happy Birthday Marlene! I am in the midst of making queso fundido with chorizo for my book club tonight. I'll try to get a shot of it, if its purty

    Dinner! 2007

little ms foodie - I am inspired! I am making those on Sunday for company. Do you think that they would hold together enough to serve them as a pre-meal snack - finger food like onion rings? Or should I serve them with the meal? Also - how would you feel about a dipping sauce of some sort? Any ideas? Thanks for posting! Kim ← Kim, we serve them as a snack. I picked up some cute little bamboo cocktail forks but you could even do picks or seafood forks if you have them. We like to stab them and smoosh them around in the cheese/oil/s&p. you can prep them quite a bit in advance and hold them in acidulated water until ready to fry- drain, pat dry and go at it tonight we had an easy frittat with italian sausage and kale ← Wendy, I love the little bubbles on the outside...looks yummmmmy!
  8. I've read about the one here in Sacramento, but haven't had the chance to visit, since the last airplane ride was to a business meeting, and drinking wine beforehand (with the whole city of co-workers in the airport) would probably not be prudent. I am anxious to go the next time for a pleasure trip.

    Dinner! 2007

Okay, I am going to give my hand at trying imagegullet, since I was previously using photobucket. Here are the pics of my dinner tonight, using my new birthday gift of the tabletop photo studio. So far I love this thing. It will be fun to try out different ways to make pics great! Here is the plated version: This is Emeril's Beef Stroganoff from his "Potluck" cookbook.
  10. Best Wishes to your wife and family. Here is to a speedy recovery. Great blog and pictures! I love your fridge, wish I had one, haven't seen anything like that in the States. I also love your milk carton ideas. I don't drink milk too much, but its a great idea to recycle. They can be flexible to put your cut veggies in a pot. Best of luck to you and enjoy your time blogging.

    Dinner! 2007

Sisefromm, Lovely pictures, they are really art worthy. The dinner looks fab too!
  12. OWWWWW, I can only imagine since I recently cut the the back of my finger with the foil from a wine bottle, and well, needless to say, when you go to squeeze a lime or something, same result.
  13. Damn, if I lived in Seattle, I'd help you out any old time...Congrats to you both for taking this on, it looks like a lovely time, for a VERY reasonable price.
  14. This is my boyfriends; He will never decide that the stock pot he is using is too small, and decide to go with the big stock pot, therefore, pouring the stock pot contents (while on the stove) into the big pot splashing all over the stove top, therefore shorting out the electrical trigger to light the burner, and causing smoke and sparks to fly everywhere. It resulted in Maytag having to come out and replace the electrical thingy on the stove top.
  15. I enjoy Bourdain's rants, they crack me up. As for the food network awards, it was nice to see that they didn't just hand out a million awards to Rachael Ray for being the most innovative, etc. The concept was okay, but the overall appeal was really quite lame, as Bourdain mentioned, specifically the "red carpet". I got bored about 15 minutes into it, and my boyfriend who was listening to parts, started laughing out loud, saying that they polled fans to vote for the most popular, or most you can't go without appliance, and the winner was a microwave. Give me a break....personally, I use a microwave to heat up water, milk, pizza and make popcorn. Just my opinion. Now my cuisanart or good santko knife, that would be a different story.

    Dinner! 2007

still suffering with sore throats, but the wine seems to help Anywhoo....dinner tonight was adapted from Cooks Illustrated, roasted cherry tomato pasta with basil, garlic, shallots and a sprinkling of sausage (housemade locally). Our house sommelier chose this wine, another local vintage from our wine tasting excursion a few weeks ago.

    Dinner! 2007

Hi Everyone Meals haven't been too photo worthly lately, that along with being lazy. After a few days of feeling not so great, with sore throats, etc, my boyfriend attempted a new dish tonight; Pork Adobo I thought it was quite delicious. We had along side, a salad with a raspberry vinegarette and some locally made blue cheese that we bought wine tasting a couple weeks ago: We also enjoyed some local wine that went well: All this and "My Super Ex Girlfriend" not bad for a Monday night!
  21. looking forward to your blog, and your new kitchen looks to be a beautiful room...makes me want to renovate my 1920's kitchen and see what is inside the walls. Blog on from one of my favorite cities in the world.

    Dinner! 2007

Shaya, I am very impressed with your son....I know 10 and 12 year old kids that don't even know how to make a sandwich, much less, risotto. I hope he continues on, what a great thing to learn at such a young age.
  23. I have just really started appreciating the art of the sausage, and those sausage tacos look yummy...thanks for sharing your lovely dinner. I have a "Randall" too...he's 7 months old and probably weighs at least 12lbs, ooopps, too much kitten food.
  24. mizducky, that weight loss is sure something to be proud of. I am looking forward on how you are able to incorporate great taste in your food, which would be hard for me on a site like this. Now I must go read the first blogs..blog on.

    Dinner! 2007

Everyone's pictures are wonderful. Haven't had too many picture worthy meals lately, but here are a couple: BF wanted to make cheeseburgers, and so he did. Here's mine with avocado, tillamook cheese and pickles we made ourselves last year: Not a pretty picture, but tasted damn good, is Ina Garten's Chicken and Morels with some roasted fingerling potatoes. I also added porcini's to the recipe. Very rich and very good, just not a pretty.
