Well, technically I'm an Italian living in Monaco and I don't eat as much pasta as my parents do. But I have open at the moment: spaghettoni, linguine, spaghetti, bucatini, mezze penne, torciglioni, filini, grattini, ditaloni rigati, gnocchi sardi, tagliatelle, fusilli bucati corti and paccheri. Wow, I didn't think I had so much FRANCI ! you're my hero ! thats AMAZING ! and cant say as i even recognize all those shapes. LOL now i dont feel so bad about having so many open. i do eat it every day for lunch and it seems that i use all the boxes i have open on a rotating basis. thanks for posting that. how much pasta do your parents eat then? at every meal? or just once a day?

I am going to be in Napa in a few weeks and i would love to get some Acme bread.... especially the baguettes. is it avalible outside of Berkeley and SF? maybe in Napa or Sonoma? or do i have to drive down to Berkley to get it? thanks

i have had some pasta over the years that i didnt get to for a long time and i did notice the flavor was a bit off. in fact.... on some of the artisan italian pasta's there is actually a a use by date. when i did get round to eating that pasta.... it was LONG after the date and it wasnt too good. so.... that was my experience. so i think....maybe it does go bad after a time. but that also might have alot to do with storage too. if its airtight and in a cool place...maybe that makes a difference on the shelf life.

Hey Franci ! i would love to know more about how many boxes of pasta people have open at one time in Italy.... and what shapes? LOL i would think LOTS of boxes for the variety. tell me more....

Someone gave me a bottle of olive oil from Frantoio Faliero Mancianti. its unfiltered and very peppery... i wondered if anyone else has used it and what you think. thanks

So i got to thinking about all the boxes of dried pasta that i have open at the same time for the use of different shapes for different condiments. how many do you have open at the same time? i use to only open 2 but now it seems that i have about 5 open.... all different kinds. from penne to squid ink linguine. is this a bad idea? i dont want anything to go bad on me but i eat pasta every day and usually like something different every few days. so what about you? how many different kinds do you have open at the same time? and how many different shapes do you have in your pantry. open or not?

i dont remember if this show is on the food network or the travel channel but there is this screaming b*tch hosting it .... its called ' Food Wars'. i think her name is Camille... what is it with this nutjob? the level of obnoxious has reached its zenith with her. MY GOD! she trying to be a female version of Adam Richman which works for him but not her! another one..... Guy Fieri..... hes on all kinds of things now and hes become SO TEDIOUS ! everything is about 'taking the bus to flavor town' ! same old crap over and over again. everything has to have some stupid rhyme.... 'winner winner chicken dinner?' oh PLEASE! one time it was interesting..... but over and over again. SOOOO BORING ! ok.... i know hes popular...... but hes an irritant to me. and what an ego...his head is so big he could wear a bathtub for a hat. i also noticed that HE loves everything he says on the shows and even looks around for approval after he says them. LOL .. its ridiculous. there are alot of shows i wont watch anymore because i cant stand the host. just my 2 cents.

I have been looking for Setaro dried pasta and i know where to find it in NYC but i would like to find a place on the west coast that carries it. does anyone have any ideas where to look? have you seen it anywhere? thanks.

I hope the flavour of the aurgula comes thru in the pasta but i'll have to see if it does. what a waste if it doesnt... why bother putting it in there if it has no flavour at all. LOL i'll let you know. thanks for the suggestions.

a friend of mine sent me some dried pasta with arugula in the dough. She also sent me some squid ink spaghetti too. what kind of condiment would you suggest for these kinds of pasta ? i have NO clue what to do with the arugula pasta. usually when i make a sauce i like to have things in it like meat or vegetables. so just plain olive oil and and cheese wouldnt be something i would want to put on the arugula pasta. any suggestions would be most appreciated. thanks

i thought there had been a thread about this but i couldnt find it. i ate there friday night and the food was fabulous. in fact it was SO good that i ate so much i got a major belly ache. the desserts...all made in house ...were terrific. friday night is seafood night and if i had been paying it would have been about $27. well worth it for the quality of the food. the fresh seafood sparkled like diamonds. if anyone else has been i would like to know what you thought of it. thanx.

i wanted to mention something about the hawaiian shirt thing. i have been in that shop MANY times and have loads of shirts from them. not the ones for 3K but just the usual older stuff in the medium price range. i believe that shop has the most vintage hawaiian shirts anywhere. period. those vintage shirts are fabulous and many people buy them as collectors items. the fact that tony wanted to actually wear his ...instead of having it put away somewhere is GREAT! its not exactly something that screams out HEY I COST 3 GRAND! ! its a low key shirt that most people would think came from some vintage section of goodwill. LOL and i have gotten LOTS of similar ones at goodwill. if tony wanted it.... he can certainly afford it and what does it matter. LOL ! bloody HELL ! MANY is the time i have been in that shop drooling over shirts i couldnt buy....and most likely never will. so yeah! i am glad to see him wearing it ! why not? it certainly looks good on him. and i am really jealous. LOL

'sunset station casino is a locals place its a big casino off of lake mead and the 215 freeway. there are lots of locals casinos in vegas.' OPPS.... my mistake Sunset station casino is off the 215 at sunset road..... the Fiesta casino is another big locals casino and THATS at 215 and lake mead....sorry about that....

Pardon me for asking: ARE YOU SURE THEY DON'T OFFER TAKE OUT??!! What kind of casino place is this?? Don't they want your money?? To answer your question, I don't usually go eat Chinese food in Las Vegas, since I live in Los Angeles, close to Chinatown & SGV. There are a few Chinese places along Spring Mountain Road, if I remember correctly. You might want to do your own investigation. I'll check and see if I learn anything. If you want some non-Chinese BBQ, try Memphis Championship Barbecue on Warm Springs & Eastern, southeast of the airport. I hope this helps. ← HAHAHAHA!!!!! YES!!!! i am sure they dont offer take out because i CERTAINLY ASKED THEM! i know it seems odd that they dont let you take out food from the Buffet but they DONT! i guess i would be a real moron wouldnt i if i didnt ask them about it. LOL ! well.... i did and the answer was no. they are fabulous ribs too. what a pity. thanks for your suggestion about regular ribs. i have THAT covered.... Memphis championship BBQ doesnt do it for me. also... FYI ....sunset station casino is a locals place its a big casino off of lake mead and the 215 freeway. there are lots of locals casinos in vegas. i will continue my research but so far i havent turned up anything anywhere near as good as those ribs. maybe if i complain loudly enough i can talk them into selling me takeout. LOL thank you very much for your amusing post. silly me..... i keep forgetting that not many locals read this board. guess people are too busy enjoying this place.

Last night i was at the dinner buffet at Sunset Station casino and happened upon the MOST FABULOUS Chinese BBQ pork ribs i have EVER had ! unfortunately ...they dont offer take out LOL can anyone give me a recomendation for chinese style ribs that are REALLY GOOD? i live in Henderson but dont mind the ride if its not too far away. i need to find a place i can get take out...too bad the casino wont do it. those ribs were to die for! any suggestions will be most appreciated. thanks.

thanks for your input.... i was going to post in the individual places i wanted to go to see if anyone there was acting as a guide. i have no doubt i could find the places on my own but in a densely populated place like hong kong it would be alot better to have someone take me right to the places i wanted to go. it just saves more time for eating and less time trying to find the place i am looking for LOL. thanks alot for your suggestions....i really appreciate it.
-
ok i see that nobody is going to answer this so maybe its in the wrong place. thanks anyway..... i'll find somewhere else to put it.
