Grateful for any recommendations for dining/drink destinations in the Pudong area of Shanghai. More specifically, I'll be staying at the St. Regis - I understand there may not be much there, but that's where I am being put for 10 days next week. While I'm familiar with Hong Kong and Beijing, this is my first visit to Shanghai and I've always gotten good recs. here. Many thanks in advance, Cheers!

Please, please, how does one get bread to turn out like that? I have tried so hard and failed miserably each time to get the crust like that. Please point me in the right direction! Also, my wife has begged me to get the recipe for the lasagna. She was looking over my shoulder at the pictures and really flipped over the lasagna! ←

Those are local, pasture raised pork sausages from Cibola farms, and they are fantastic. The Ribollita recipe is a conglomeration for me these days - a good way to use up leftover homemade bread and fall ingredients. I tend to base it off of the first recipe I used years ago from the Union Square Cookbook. Good pancetta, good quality stale bread (I use up to 4 or 5 days old - again you couldn't do that with commercial bread), and a good slick fruity olive oil and a handful of pecorino make the difference. Cheers.

The boys are heading up to Baltimore from DC to celebrate the last days of bachelorhood. We're looking for a great steak dinner, and the small group is singular in the food snobishness, any recommendations out there?

Just returned from Cape Breton, and heading back up at least two more times in the next three months: I second in a big way the Chowder House in Neils Harbour. Simply outstanding chowder. If oysters are your thing, you've got to try the local Aspy bay oysters, where they are plucked fresh at a local camping ground and served up; its called the Hideaway Campground and its near Neils Harbour. A truly great local product. http://www.campingcapebreton.com/file/oyster.html And yes, Sydney should hang their collective head in shame for not being able to put forward a decent - mid-level - dining experience. However, in Boularderie, off the TC highway, there is the Cedar House restaurant and bakery which has excellent fish and chips as well as fish cakes.

I love lima beans. What all do you have in that delicious looking dish ? Bacon? Cream? YUM ! ← Yep, bacon, onion, red pepper, corn, the beans, cream (about 1/2 to 3/4 cup) and some lemon thyme from the garden. All about freshness.

Wife picked up sweet corn and shelled lima/butter beans on trip to southern VA. Turned it into sucottash.
