  2. Welcome, George! I'm looking forward to your contributions!
  3. I don't ever remember Arby's using real roast beef. I grew up in the N. VA. area and we always went to Roy Roger's., so we tended to look down on Arby's "roast beef". It always seemed like Arby's used some kind of 'fused' meat and the beef at Roy Roger's was so good - you could actually see the roasts being sliced and you could pull a piece apart along the grain.
  4. Cool. So, can you alternate between hair and chicken, or does this need to be a dedicated dryer? 'Cause I can just imagine Mr. Kim's reaction when I say I need a blow dryer for the kitchen. He still hasn't bought the little heater I've requested for turning our kitchen half bath into a proofing room.
  5. Welcome! Hope you find everything you need here!

Only the marinated ones. The kosher dills are just Mt. Olive. The marinated cukes have vinegar, sugar, onions and pepper and here's the recipe for what I call "cheaters". Thanks!

    Dinner 2018

Cleaning out the freezer dinner. Newman’s Own pizza: Trader Joe's chicken soup dumplings: These tasted good, but weren’t terribly soupy. Caesar salad: Pickly stuff: Kosher dills, cheater sweet dills and marinated cukes.
  11. @kayb and @Shelby - So glad these are appealing to you! They are really, really good. Two things to know. Make sure to not overcook them - they should be fairly soft out of the oven. Also - you can make these messy or you can make them neat. If you don't care what they look like, mix the Sugar Babies in and bake. They will melt and the ones near the edges will spill out over the edges and make these lacy little crisp caramel ruffles. We count these as a delicious little treat. If you want them neat (which I did for the bake sale), you can just press a couple of the Sugar Babies into the cookies before putting in the oven. For that matter, you could probably place them on top of the soft cookie when it comes out of the oven - like you do Hershey Kisses in PB blossoms. And, I always find my Sugar Babies at Dollar Tree, if that helps.
  12. More church bake sale stuff for the freezer - Ginger Chewies with Sugar Babies: Lois' Best Coffee Cake: Old standby @maggiethecat recipe.

Leftover turkey and long grain & wild rice soup. Found the recipe on the Uncle Ben’s website. If I’d made the soup following the recipe exactly, it would have been some sad soup. But I had my good turkey stock and I added some seasonings and herbs. Turned out to be very good.
  14. Once every 3 or 4 months, I have to have a Beef and Cheddar. The combination of the ersatz beef, ersatz cheese, soft onion roll and loads of "Horsey Sauce" is an occasional guilty pleasure.😏
  15. These are brilliant! What great ideas for a party. If I thought that more than 4 people who come to my house for Xmas Eve would eat these, they'd go on my menu tonight!
  16. @Dave the Cook - thanks for taking the time to write that! I share your thoughts and opinions of this "reload" and would have liked to see a real effort on his and FN's part to actually DO what they said they were going to do with this show.
  17. Hello and welcome to eG! I think you will find lots of folks here who share your interests! Looking forward to your posts - and those waffles look wonderful!

    Breakfast! 2018

Mr. Kim came home from a breakfast meeting this morning with leftover bacon (??????):
  19. Sounds like a PITA to make it come out right and I suspect it would be difficult to avoid the panko coating from getting soggy down in the bottom of the slit.
  20. Welcome! I was a longtime lurker, too! I'm glad you finally took the plunge! Looking forward to your input.
  21. More church bake sale stuff – Chocolate Mocha cookies: Dream cookies: I've I'm sure I've talked about these before. They are the favorite cookies in our home. They look like nothing, but are absolutely delectable - VERY buttery and crisp. Almost like a thin shortbread. I've been making them since I was a little girl.

    Dinner 2018

I needed space in the freezer for church bake sale stuff, so we took a turkey out that we’d bought a couple of months ago. It finally thawed yesterday, so I threw together a turkey dinner. Roasted turkey: I can’t remember the last time I actually roasted a whole turkey in the oven. Usually I do breasts in the slow cooker or whole turkeys in the Nesco. It turned out quite well – a tiny bit overdone (should have temped it earlier), but tasty and moist: Tossed together dressing mix: I baked a cake of cornbread, used a half bag of Pepperidge Farm stuffing mix I had in the pantry and finally, when it didn’t look like enough bread, tore up a few leftover biscuits from Bojangles. Added some sautéed celery and carrots, Bell’s seasoning and a little turkey stock. Baked for an hour, it turned out very well: (I should have added an egg or two). Canned cranberry sauce from when we cleaned out my mom’s pantry to move her over here: Can ridges WERE visible. 😁 Grocery store yeast rolls: The thing that pulled it all together: The Gravy! Plated: With purchased mashed potatoes, butter beans and leftover slaw (the last was Mr. Kim’s non-starch suggestion🙄). With gravy: And for dinner tonight, what every turkey dreams of becoming: Hot turkey and dressing open faced sandwich with mashed potatoes behind.

There seems to be little bits of suspicious green things on that otherwise delicious looking pizza. 😉
