No back was harmed in the cutting of two potatoes - took me all of about 30 seconds to do. You may not be able to see it - but I am sitting on a chair there. When I get it home I'll find an appropriate spot for it (likely not actually) - it will probably end up sideways on a countertop.

It is a Bloomfield fry cutter - vintage I think. These days Vollroth makes the Bloomfield and Vollroth replacement blades and pushers fit this cutter.

Kijiji - hubby cleaned it, refurbished it and mounted it on a board - and had it ready for me with some extra clamps to attach it to the counter when I returned from NYC. I got a text while I was there asking where my ultrasonic cleaner was. He said he didn't think it had ever been cleaned.

Our lovely dinner - unctuous chuck eye - way too rich to eat a whole piece, bok chop with garlic, sous vide corn. I understand the work unctuous is in poor regard these days - but to me it's that rich, buttery texture that chuck or short rib takes on after a long slow sous vide cook.

After lunch we headed down to the boat launch - this is where I got my mint. The water is very high this year - normally we could have walked out to the furthest trees (albeit having to avoid all the goose poop)!

My contribution to work today - large version of summer torte with strawberries and rhubarb (still have a bit of rhubarb left). Today was my second day with a delightful medical student. After we finished rounding at the Wiki nursing home we headed to Ed's Place for lunch. Our physicians assistant Peter suggested the club sandwich on the home made bread. It was a good choice. These were called Poutine Bites - I'd say a little more like half sized deep fried mozzarella. They weren't horrible but they weren't fried cheese curd either. Maryse opted for fries with hers. We each brought home half a sandwich.

Sadly that was the last of it!

Forgot to post what I took to grand rounds today (along with the other half of the Paul Young brownies for the nursing home). This is @Pille's Rhubarb Sheet Cake - equal parts by weight of eggs, sugar, butter and flour topped with the same weight in rhubarb and sprinkled with some demara sugar.

Rug rat had a good day with her new caregiver. Not a huge fan of the baby skunks. Not the slightest bit afraid of the bison. They should fear her! Made a good friend with the dog.

I’d have to find dry ice

Sitter dropped the kidlet back to us just after I made it home. Invited her to help us finish off the Brother's Perryman. I've forgotten what the dish was called (maybe gyuodon) but it contained the perfect onsen tamago.

I think I've only had one good firework burn up here in all the years I've been coming. Rockets in the pockets as I recall. Off to the burn unit. But now that you've said it...

Likely removing fish hooks, sewing up the lacerations from falling off decks and rocks. At 6 pm sharp - having a cocktail!

Forgot to post my baking - Paul Young’s brownies with a sprinkling of maple sugar. The child got a bedazzled Canada day hat! Later by the pool - she shared her popsicle with the dog.
