In Burien, there has been some recent rumblings about a good BBQ place. A Stranger Chow article had an interesting way of saying they liked it. I also read a thread about it on Chowhound the other day during my monthly check in.
My only argument with the article is the part about the rib sliding out from the meat cleanly. This is usually a sign of overcooking and not a very good sign at all.
In any case, it sounds worth a check out.
Col?

Here is a Seattle Weekly story that spells out the actual reason he was detained. They said that another story will run in May.

Yes, pricing does vary.
I paid 2.35 for a frigging egg McMuffin in San Jose where the same McCrap costs 99 cents in Seattle.

I was just reading in the Seattle Weekly about a new bakery that opened up in the Meridian/Green Lake area. Has anybody tried it out yet?
Here is a link to the blurb: Blurb!

The Eating Factory, it was an all you can eat Japanese Buffet over here in Bellevue. It is no longer though. I guess the guy did not like paying his rent.

Is there much difference between the lunch and dinner? Are portions or dishes different? It sounds like a steal!

I had some crysanthemum (spelling) tea last night at a japanese tea shop that was quite nice. There was some other unidentefiable stuff in there as well. One thing looked like a small grape. hmmm.

The lamb curry with homeade panir (paneer) is very intriguing!!!! If I go, I would have a tough time choosing between that and the suckling pig... Gahh!!!

and the bar at Brasa.
While the bar at Brasa offers great food at low low prices, I find the service to be some of the worst I have had in Seattle. They are very inattentive and very slow. I wonder why our experiences differ.

I am a big fan of leftovers from dinner, but since you say that you rarely get time to make dinner...
I had leftover ribs from Big Al's Texas BBQ last night. Pretty tasty!

How does one (being, shall we say, not employed as a chef) go about finding somewhere to buy these high-end chocolates? I'm not opposed to mailorder but if I could find something local (Columbus, OH) I'd be happy. I know where I can get Callebaut and Scharffen Berger, but have never laid eyes on Valrhona, etc. (Would you believe they had a story in the local paper a few weeks back with a chocolate tasting, but no sources? Grrr.)
I'm not exactly God's gift to baking (don't have the patience) but I do like to play around every now and again.
I would suggest contacting the people who held the chocolate tasting, they might have some tips. Also, you can check boutique type stores as they tend to have specialty products like high end chocolate. Another way might be to find some of the better pastry chefs in town and ask them.

I do a similar thing. It is year round and sources from local farms as much as possible. I get a box delivered to my doorstep every other week (you can do weekly if you want) full of fruits and veggies. It is fun, I get to figure out what to cook based on my veggies.
It is called Pioneer Organics.

Ugh, the smell of that stuff alone makes me naesous. Katie had a bottle of it one time and it horrified me to see somebody injest that stuff...

Liza, you can have my portion. I will just have to visit the Col himself with my own brisket in the future.
Enjoy!
