You go to Tabla to get Indian food? Please... wake up. They have hired Indian chefs who can cook Indian food to work downstairs. But still, no self respecting poor Indian chef would want to work at Tabla. It is a mess. Neither here nor there. The Plotnickis of the world can be charmed at Tabla maybe, for the real, there is nothing there. Bad food, in a noisy setting, great service though. Food sucks at best. Horrible at other times and inedible when bad.

Jaymes, you write well. Even as you tried to attack me through Bourdain, you failed. He did not buy your selling of Creme de menthe. It is tacky and that is all most of the world thinks. It is to the US what some syrupy drinks are to asia. But I respect your taste in other stuff... you are all american and dynamic.

That is sad. I asked my wife if she would want to attend that and she had agreed. So now we have to go somewhere else and pay for it. Are you an Indian giver? That was some way of teasing people. Cute. Very cute! Actually, not cute. It sucks! Did you want us to know you had money to attend, but were not, and so wanted to simply make a statement? Jaymes, what a great topic you started. I love potato salad. I have a friend that makes the best. Will call them and get you a recipe. I know they add many herbs to it and also gerkins. And yes t here has to be that perfect balance between acid and sweet. How do you make your version? What did you grow up eating?

Do we really get good peaches in this country? I have eaten some half way decent ones in CA, but they too are no match to the Italian or Asian varieties.

Some ethnic people even in the US eat these. It may be fun to explore what some of the ethnic members can say about how to cook with them. Bourdain is correct about us losing touch with a need to be savvy. We now live lives that are far removed from any sense of frugality. We even waste money making crudites fancy foods.

Enjoyed your books, and love your show. You are very straight forward, very on your face kind a guy. Cool man, very cool. What would you do with one like this Steve Plotnicki guy on egullet? He attacks any and all that are smarter than he. He seems arrogant about having drunk more expensive wines than many other people. Is that enough for you to be bashed by a fool? Would you ban someone that attacks many members, and has seen many leave or lurk on the site for fear that he may insult them? As a chef and writer that has seen ups and down, bullies and ignorant fools, what would you take be? I am new to the site, but all I see being discussed here, is this one mans hate of many others. It is boring now. And I see the management is unable to silence him for fear of censoring on a free speech site. What would you suggest or do? Can you silence a fool like him? Or are you like most of us, worried he would be able to outwit you with anger? PS: Do you like any basil liquer or even creme de menthe?

Basil Liquer is like creme de menthe.. mostly for those wanting cheap liquers with juvenile flavors. No self respecting person would consider that trash worth mentioning.

NYC based pastry chef Heather Carlucci did that once at a restaurant I ate in. She did it for a birthday dessert. Amazing script, great plate.
