  1. Well, I'm prolly in the minority when I say that "Mikey" might have sabotaged Marcel.... I think the missing gelee and fish were a pretty big mystery. It's not like we haven't seen the request for "compensation" in these types of challenges before. I was surprised and disappointed in Mikey's comments. Not that I liked Marcel, by a good margin. But I think Illan's "friend" Elia did far more than Marcel's sous chefs did. I would've voted for Sam, if given the chance. Or at least for TONY! Cheers,
  2. Is this close enough?
  3. I don't think I know of this place......tell me more? ← Kevin Davis: opening Feb 1? ← Wow, that menu looks great, and he has the Caviar Pie from the Oceanaire menu - yay! ← Flash Fried Beecher's Cheese Curds? That can't suck! So is this in the old Vivanda spot? ← Just got off the phone with Kevin Davis (kind of a funny story...). Anyway, per my suggestion, there is a possibility for Poutine on the menu!!!! Cheers, ← I just went to the website to show hubby the menu for Steelhead Diner, and noticed that Kevin Davis has indeed added Poutine to the menu!!!! Cheers,
  4. Thank you, and best wishes to your mother. Mrs. Crab is normally the bone-nibbler in our family, but she is on her best behavior these days. OK, now I'm really going to bed. ← Merci, and Mom is doing okay. I think the Nibblers are the Best!
  5. As I looked at the spent plate of ribs, I couldn't help but think of how my Mom was never happy with how we ate our bone-in meat, and always finished our bones clean! Unfortunately, I just heard from my sis that she's in the the ER for testing tonight (she's a young 70), so the memory was timely. Let's hope it's just something minor and has many years of bone nibbling in her future! Great blog thus far, and I went back and looked at your kitchen remodel and must say it's wonderful! Love the sliding trash bin too. Cheers,
  6. If you Google "kettle corn recipe" with the quotation marks, you get lots of choices. Looks pretty easy - might have to try it myself! Cheers,

  9. Was his name Stephen? ←
  10. For that very reason I always have sauces at the handy. They don't taste exactly like the ones from the restaurant, but pretty close. I pour a little in a "mis" cup and nuke for 20 seconds. (I get sauces and keep in the fridge from Trader Joes, but don't tell those people that hate TJ's because of their individually-wrapped veggies! Neither I, or anyone I know, buy those anyway...)" Cheers,
  11. Hello: I'm so very fascinated by your blog. I'm 1/2 Inuit and living in the Seattle area. Very impressed with your adventurous spirit with locating and food. I grew up all over the U.S. (if I have grown up) and have very little experience with Vietnamese cuisine. Now I will explore a little more, thanks! Cheers,
  12. Suzy: thanks so very much for such a nice trip back to Hawaii! For me, it's been almost 20 years (Oahu and Kauai), but now I'd like to go back. We go to Mexico (Caribbean side) twice a year, but now I have great photos to show hubby and convince him to go to Hawaii next time. LOVE your family and friends too. You are truly blessed. Cheers,
  13. Look what that darn in-law family made us miss out on!!!! Next year I'm telling them I've reserved the time for my Bainbridge family...... Cheers,
  14. Here's a recent update on Noble Court: Establishment: Noble Court Restaurant Address 1644 - 140th Ave NE, Bellevue Date closed: December 21, 2006, 3:30 PM Reason: Potentially hazardous foods at unsafe temperatures Improper cooling of potentially hazardous foods Failure to correct repeat violations Storing food in rat and roach infested areas Status: CLOSED Date re-opened: . It's from an email update I received. Here's the link: http://www.metrokc.gov/health/foodsfty/res...antclosures.htm
  15. Small amount of the bechamel for the starch factor, and then add heavy cream and whatever cheeses you like. Monday night I added Fontiago, White Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Maytag blue and Grana Padano, with fresh buttered breadcrumbs on top. I like Campanelle noodles for the billowy effect. Yumm! Cheers,
  16. I quite like Bengal Tiger which is just north of there on Roosevelt and 65th but I'll definately give Taste of India a try and compare. ← Please let us know what you think. We were unimpressed (by Taste of India) and wishing for better Indian. So far our best is Masala, by Northgate. Don't even think of Sahib, in Edmonds, as their service is the worst. We live in Edmonds, and our last 4 experiences have been terrible.
  17. I really liked the Glacier Brewhouse during my last business trip to Anchorage: http://www.glacierbrewhouse.com/
  18. Rachel: I really, really enjoyed this taste of home and family. Thank you so much for this past week! Cheers,
  19. I can't have my salad touch anything either! It always has to be on a separate salad plate. I'm pretty okay with other things touching, especially if there's gravy or butter involved. But I absolutely can't stand for pancakes and syrup to come into contact with eggs or especially egg yolk. When eating breakfast out, I always ask how the items are plated, and beg for separate plates if necessary by stating that I'm a spoiled brat deep down inside. Cheers,
  20. I have that 7qt Calphalon sauteuse and absolutely love it! I just wish I could make huge meals more often so that I could use the pan more often. I actually got it for around $79 on eBay, but $100 is still very good for that pan. Cheers,
  21. Even though I had read "Flocko's" blog when it first appeared, I re-read it again today. I was drawn to him (even though we'd never met) and to his beautiful area. I am so sad that his earthly-presence was extinquished. Rest well, Bill, and thank you for your light. Cheers,
  22. Yep, love those too! We always have them on-hand also. Will say, despite what some may say re: the "low-brow" nature of the crescent rolls and 'lil smokies with honey mustard: my pigs-n-blanket get invited first for Super Bowl and then US! Cheers,
  23. Mine is almost the same as Marlene's, except I use Trader Joe's "sweet hot mustard" or a good version of Honey Mustard, and spread it on the crescent roll 1/3's before rolling the "Lil Smokies" into them. I brush an egg wash on them before baking, and then sprinkle with a combo of black and white sesame seeds. Everyone goes crazy for them! Cheers,
  24. Great job, Eden! How do I get on the list for next year?????..... Cheers,
  25. Great to see you blogging this week, Eden! I knew you were into historic cooking/recipes, but this feast seems amazing! I grew up with the eggs too. We called them "egg in a hole," and always dunked the circle into the egg. Cheers,
