  1. Such a delight! Thank you so much for the trip,
  2. Many years ago, in the early 90's before I actually moved here, I stopped by when I was staying at the Westin. As I was up to pay for my pain au chocolat, two roaches ran across the counter. I've never been back. I know it was a LONG time ago and many changes have been made since, but I can't bring myself to stop by again. Cheers,
  3. Yes they are; not a photo effect.
  4. Wow, hadn't heard a word about it! Here's a Union thread: http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?showtopic=48070&st=90 Cheers,
  5. Have you bashed them around yet?? I mean really drummed them on the table or dropped them from counter height? That's the real test. If you tell me that they survive that I'm buying a set immediately! ← I haven't purposefully "bashed" them, but as I was washing them, I knocked one over in the sink and it didn't break!
  6. They're here and they're absolutely awesome! Very thin lip. Nice weight. Love the swirl factor. Gorgeous, clear crystal. I'm ordering more of the "Tannic" and at least 8 of the "Universal Tasting" glasses, and 8 of the "Effervescent." I'm very pleased with my purchase! Cheers,
  7. I don't know how you can order it, but I had jotted down the name of the company: M & J Greider Farms. Hope this helps! Cheers,
  8. Thoroughly enjoyed this past week! I haven't been to Utah for a few years, and now I feel a little homesick. Thanks for sharing your glorious life and surroundings. Cheers,
  9. I originally found this "recipe" on one of those "copycat" web sites. Haven't tried it though: Lipton's Onion 3/4 cup minced onion 1/3 cup beef bouillon 4 tsp onion powder 1/4 tsp crushed celery seed 1/4 tsp sugar Combine all ingredients Store in tight fitting container About 5 Tbsp. of mix are equal to 1 1.25 oz pkg. Use in making soup or onion dip (Mix 5 Tbsp. with one pint of sour cream). Cheers,
  10. The link in my post says they hold up to 2,000 dishwasher cycles. Cheers,
  11. I've absolutely enjoyed this! Many years ago I worked for a company that had an office in Purchase, and it was my first glimpse of Westchester County (from then, Orange County, CA). This visit could have only been better with a pic of that handsome devil, Bill! Cheers,
  12. They're available! I just ordered one set to try them out, but if they're as nice as I hope, I see several add'l sets in my future. At $39.99/four, I think they're pretty fairly priced if they are as "break resistant" as they say. clicky Cheers,
  13. I really don't understand why the people who DON'T have a reaction to MSG are questioning it. I don't question your allergies to ragweed or peanuts, or wonder if you're just making a big deal out of it with epipens like you don't want to die or something {LOL}. Anyway, I had barely told my then-boyfriend about my MSG problem, other than to ask up front at an oriental restaurant whether they added MSG or not. He took me to a place nearby his parent's house, and when I asked, they said they couldn't guarantee that anything they had didn't have it! We ate anyway. As we were leaving and holding hands, my now-husband said he could feel my fingers expanding as he held them. That was at the same time the weird headache began at the back of my head. He gets it. I don't understand all of the chemical explanations, but do also avoid copious amounts of soyu now. Cheers,
  14. Thanks so much for blogging this week! Such a treat since I live here and was fortunate to have met you both (on the night of your 1st date, and believe me, I won't forget!). You've shared such joy and love of food and the wonderful bounty of wonderful raw ingredients, coffee and restaurants that Seattle has to offer. It's been a jewel of a food blog! Cheers,
  15. Lemon herb aioli!
  16. Apparently it will be earlier than originally expected. I received an email from them saying they'll be available this month. Unfortunately, when I called the Customer Service # they provided, she said they've already sold out their initial supply of over 2,700 glasses in each style. She suggested checking back in a few weeks at 866.645.2721. Pictures/prices are available in their new catalog (but couldn't view online as of today) at www.mikasa.com. Cheers!
  17. I'm not an enemy of salt, but find that more and more restaurants over-salt. I've remarked on it several times recently, and my hubby, who NEVER salts, says he hasn't noticed it! HHmmmm.
  18. I hope I'm not too late since I'm in the same time zone. I vote: IC # 1 8.9 IC # @ 9.3 Since I'm obviously too late to vote for tonight's dinner, I wish you both a very special 5 month anniversary tomorrow night at Union! Tell both Ethan's I said "Hi!" and look forward to seeing them at the Pig Roast this weekend! Cheers,
  19. Hi Lorna and Henry: I'm waving and smiling from up the road. Looks like I missed out on a great Tapas Party yesterday at Char's! I vote for Eggs. Cheers,
  20. I got mine at Costco at a discount. Not sure if it's still available there, but it wouldn't hurt to check. ← Costco hasn't opened here yet, sadly and it will be awhile before it does. So I will continue to save or maybe ask for it for Christmas. Not sure how anyone in my family will feel about putting out that kind of money for a cookbook, but hey it doesn't hurt to try right? ← They're less than $30 new on eBay. Cheers,
  21. I'll pass mine on to you next time I see you Eden! Cheers,
  22. I've never used my spaetzle maker (you put the dough in the top and move it back and forth over holes over boiling water) - it's still in the original packaging and never even opened. Also haven't used my set of three sizes of springform pans!
  23. This is a combo of the How you Eat your Oatmeal thread and this one: after preparing my oatmeal with raisins, brown sugar and half/half, I top it with chunks of heavily-buttered, very crispy white toast. I try to incorporate a piece of toast in every bite of oatmeal! Cheers,
  24. I just Googled your request, and there's tons of recipes to look at. I haven't tried any of them, but you're sure to find something you can make. Clicky Cheers,
