  1. I walked by two weekends back and Wayne mentioned he was selling - soon.
  2. Kosher Delight (at the Market) - dark and empty. Is it gone or any chance a remodeling is under way?
  3. Looking at the website and the Iron Chef America programs scheduled through May - I am thinking these tapings won't show this season. Oh the agony if we must wait...
  4. Dungeness crab for the Douglas v. Morimoto battle would be my vote. ← I think they already did a crab battle - or was that on the original program? Too early for Copper River, yes? Wouldn't they love yet another publicity opportunity.
  5. This was incredibly generous of Ovio. Lush corn and crab chowder with serrano ham (or mixed greens salad with goat cheese and fried onions for veg) Giant portion of smoked hanger steak with yukon gold potatos and asparagus (or equally big pillow style raviolo filled with ricotta and fresh peas with pea vines, mint pesto and lemon sauce for veg) Everyone got individual warm chocolate + dulce cakes with pecan ice cream for dessert.
  6. Thanks reesek. Bouchon, Wallingford Center - closed and for lease.
  7. The Weekly's Dining Guide claims it isn't any longer (open till 3 a.m. that is.) And the ad in The Stranger says "11-8" 7 days a week.
  8. Matt was cooking? That's unusual. Todd's the tall guy. Probably Lauri's dimples - she a great cook too. 2 burners - propane, not electric. Good stemwware.
  9. He mentioned Morimoto on Saturday (and he shared radio time with Mario.)
  10. maybe spell check?
  11. Oops, Del Rey. No circular bar. The old two dagos space, 1st and Vine has a tavern license posted "Black Bottle"
  12. Oh, don't forget Matt's in the Market. You might also consider Flying Fish. Also, perhaps something more ethnic?
  13. Got a 21" pizza from Zagi's - very special combo. They crumbled the first one putting it in the oven, so sold it as slices and built me a new one. Nice gesture, but it took awhile. I loved having options such as roasted garlic and potatoes. That is a big pizza. One slice would have done it for me...Tasty ingredients, the crust was okay, but didn't wow me. Stone baked, not wood fired.
  14. Did you mean to say "now very curious"?
  15. The red painted lounge at 1st and Battery opened last week - nice looking nibbles menu, didn't walk in - too many smokers. I think it is called El Rey? Another circular bar. Anyone know anything more about this place? Around the corner, En was closed for the winter but spruced up a bit and are reopening (maybe already did.) Never been.
  16. By next spring - the list could change so much. Restaurants open every day or week. Chefs come and go.
  17. I have chesnut honey in the pantry - hope it isn't aphid spit.
  18. The Don Curtis place, Volterra, is on Ballard Ave NW near the intersection with 22nd Ave, where Burk's used to be. ← Ah, that makes more sense - so Ballard gets two more new ones, both Italian? Wow - last year it was Mex. Or maybe it's a wine store with dishes for sale? Let's start some rumors.
  19. Which corner? Kitchen Store? ← The SW corner, actually a bit to the west of the corner about 2 buildings. I am not sure what the meny will be, I am guessing Italian. ← Oh, thanks. I can't find anything now, but somehow I thought this was Don Curtis's place? Italian cheffie Can anyone confirm?
  20. Oh my - the best of TasteWashington (well, my sampling was very small) were the macaroons crafted by pastry chef, Christina Longo, at Barking Frog. She made them in flavors such as Lavender, Lime-Basil, Meyer Lemon, Cherry something, Pernod Chocolate, and ? Beautiful, crisp exterior, light cookie, silky fillings. No retail shop, but on their dessert menu - I guess as Italian Meringue Kisses?
  21. Me too! It was still open in 1989 (a memorable brunch) and some amount of time after that. Turned into a Gravity Bar, then El Nino, soon to be Porta. Also, Cafe Counter Intelligence, though I'd happily sell it's soul for the replacement - Matt's in the Market, especially since the food is so much better.
  22. You should get to Pienza in Italy (if you haven't been already) - every other business is "something Luna". I'm not sure why, but I found that enchanting.
  23. He was at Earth & Ocean for a long time before that, though. ← and Carmelita for a short time before that, and Dahlia Lounge before that. Long time PNW.
