  1. Yummmmm....that's my kind of Birthday breakfast. Unfortunately, truffle season just ends around my Birthday, but looking at this dish has caused me to question why such a dish should be reserved for a "special" day, does it not posses the power the make an ordinary day special? So when I return from my winter vacation in a few weeks, I shall make myself a similar treat.

Prawn....it all looks delicious, especially the Baklava....may I request the recipe?
  3. Abra, I should have mentioned that the pies where purchased and heated in the oven....sorry. They were good, but nothing compared to the desserts I have salivated over on your blogs.
  4. Some great ideas here for the next Thanksgiving. I ended up posting this on the Dinner thread since I had not seen this thread revived. This year we had a small gathering of 6 at my Aunt's house. My Aunt made the Turkey along with other sides like mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, gravy, coleslaw, broccoli, etc. and I made Prime Rib For dessert we had Pecan, Pumpkin and Apple Caramel Nut pies We were soooo full we could not eat for days....OK, maybe for a few hours. Lunch the next day was a sandwich out of the leftover cranberry relish, casserole, stuffing and turkey
  5. Breakfast today was Scrambled Eggs w/Goat Cheese with roasted fingerling potatoes, shallots and garlic

Coq Au Vin over Orzo Fresh Arugula, Duck Confit, Caramelized Pearl Onions and Poached Egg over Brioche Toast Topped with Green Godess Dressing While I did not make this myself, it was so delicious I suspect I will be trying to imitate it soon and thought I would share the experience...virtually
  9. Is this the place in Royersford or Limerick across from the Target? BTW, the Bombay Kitchen mentioned upthread is now closed. *sob*
  10. Ver nice Parmhero. After tasting homemade corned beef hash, I cannot go back to the diner version, much less the canned version. So today I made Fried Egg Over Homemade Corned Beef Hash w/Purple Peruvian Potatoes

Yes it did but who said anything about not being messy? Actually it is not that bad as the bun also absorbs some of the yolk.

    Dinner! 2008

Masoor Dal (Black Lentils) w/Lamb - the lamb and black lentils simmer for hours to get this deep, rich flavor...the lamb succulent and the marrow just puts it over the top....hmmmm
  19. Parsi Bharuch Ni Akoori - Same as a regular Akoori but with the addition of cashews, almond and raisins (I used dried cranberries). The traditional recipe also called for adding mawa (milk solids made from evaporating fresh milk), which is hard to come by here.
  20. If you are looking for typical (but good) American Italian style pasta & sauce, there are many places in South Philly. However, if you want more authentic Italian pasta and pizza in a more upscale environment, try Osteria. You can grab a seat at the bar or by the counter overlooking the kitchen.
  21. Parsi Tomato Egg - Added some cumin, coriander and chili powder to some meatball sauce I made last weekend.
  22. Prasantrin, Shelby, the fresher the chips the better. Traditionally they are home made, but I used a fresh pack of kettle chips.

Some good stuff coming out of your kitchen as usual Bruce. Is the recipe for the dan dan spaghetti available?
  24. Yesterday I made another Parsi favorite... Wafer Per Eda (Eggs on chips) - Saute some onions, garlic, ginger, chilies, paprika, toss in chips, top with eggs, add 2 tbsp water and cover.

Great Travelblog Klary. This weekend an elderly Italian friend of the family came over to share her recipe of Meatballs & Sauce. We made about 3 dozen meatballs and simmered them in the sauce for about 3 hours. Very simple and very delicious
