WoW! Now I want one of those! Is that lamb or beef?

Mano, Hope its not too late. It depends on what you are looking for. I recommend Dimples for vegetarian dishes and street snacks (a must try). Recommend the Kachori chaat, frankie, and dry fruit falooda to drink. For Pakistani, cross the street and go to Shalimar. They offer fresh tandoori chicken, kebabs, fish and even a variety of curries and occasionally some "exotic" items like lamb/goat brains. There are also some Indo-Chinese restaurants. The best advice I can give you is walk around, poke your head in, see the menu/board and if it looks interesting grab a seat. Don't forget to try some Indian tea and Paan.

Clark, saw some of the sandwiches on your blog and I may just be able to eat of all of those as well.

Breakfast sandwich from a local joint. Bacon, Ham, Cheese, Egg between Texas toasts - Heart-stoppingly good. Could only eat half there and took the rest home. Side profile shot.

WOW Kate, now that looks good! Was this picture taken in a lightbox?

Beautiful presentation as always dcarch.

Katie, I used about 2 tbsp of high quality balsamic vinegar at the very end to give it an extra kick.

With all the talk of Bacon Jam, I had to make myself a batch, with slight modifications such as a touch of bourbon and balsamic vinegar to add some depth. Almost finished Bacon Jam before it went in the food processor Chef's snack while the bacon jam was being prepared. Proper use of Bacon Jam

Kate, There must be some freaky food-time wrap thing going on here - this is what I had for dinner (around breakfast time in Australia): Red Hot w/Caramelized onions, Bacon jam and relish

Kim, the pretzel sausage was from Philly Soft Pretzel Factory, a chain with a few locations around here. It is basically a spicy sausage and cheese wrapped in a pretzel dough. Think pigs in a pretzel blanket. The "leftover crabcake" is a rare sighting here as well, but the generous portions allowed me to plan for breakfast while still having dinner These eggs are from an award winning place which sells free roaming, free range chickens to all the top restaurants. The yolk seems to much deeper and orange and it holds together quite well.

Like I said to johnnyd; I'll be waiting at the airport to meet you! You'll recognise me because I'll be holding two different things to eat, one in each hand, while looking desirously at whatever food the person next to me has. OK, who is ready to sign-up for the eGullet trip to visit Kate for a culinary tour of the places highlighted in this blog? Kate, thank you for a wonderful blog and torturing us with images which will linger in our minds.

A Jam Packed Indian Food Store In Norristown
percyn replied to a topic in Pennsylvania: Cooking & Baking
Stopped by a couple times. It carries the staples plus a large selection of Indian snacks and pickles. The produce quality could be improved though. -

Thanks for the info andiesenji. Scotty, is that a stuffed french toast or an egg sandwich?

I don't think I've ever seen them here, except canned/pulp. I believe they are wonderful, the apotheosis of mango! Do you get them in the US? A dhaba place I like has 'Alphonso mango kulfi' that is just delicious, but TBH, without a comparison Alphonso, not sure what the deliciousness premium is over other mango types. This blog is making me HUNGRY !! Until recently, Alphonso mangoes were banned in the US. However, now they allow them if they have been irradiated, which keeps the supply limited. Given the high price ($30-$50/dozen), most shop keepers do not keep them in stock. One year I bought a dozen for $10 each via mail order, but this season I could not even special order them. I think the taste is special enough to warrant the premium, but not everyone may agree. Great pics of the dim sum and fish market. Given your mouthwatering posts on the Dinner and Breakfasts threads, what was the inspiration that got you cooking Asian food and master this cuisine? What do spanner crabs taste like? Do you get Singapore style chili crab at any of the stores or better yet - do you have a recipe for it?

Not sure I would call these "Obscene" but certainly good eats: Truffled Lobster Club Sandwich Juicy Lucy w/Caramelized Onions Smoked Turkey, Ham, Cheese, Japanese Mayo, Swedish Mustard

Good response AjitG. True Moghul cuisine is hard to find in the US, so I recommend finding recipes on the Internet or purchasing "Moghul Cooking" by Joyce Westrip and making it at home.

Someone should start making and selling that bacon jam in stores! Breakfast today was Fried Egg w/Spicy Sausage wrapped in a Pretzel I loved the idea of the grilled cheese toad in the hole, so I had to try it.

Tonight's dinner - Crown's Fried Chicken on a Waffle Another meal from about a week ago which I neglected to post: Juicy Lucy topped with onions slow cooked for 24 hrs. ETA: Wish I had some bacon jam from Kim to top this burger with.
