  1. Just as I suspected. I read it on the Internet, so it must be true!
  2. I didn't suggest America, Jerry's Osteria (Tenafly), Max's Italian Cafe (Tenafly) or Saigon Republic (Englewood) or Kratiem (Englewood) because I thought they weren't in the immediate area. But yes, all good choices if she doesn't mind driving 15-20 minutes out of her way.
  3. Sure, I can double your salary. No problem. Triple it even.
  4. Yeah, but then they sign that letter with a link to their Statement of Principles, which Bayless assisted in writing.
  5. I've also heard a lot of good things about Le Jardin, a continental restaurant which is on the cliffs on River Road in Edgewater and has a scenic view of manhattan. Pricey, however. http://www.nj.com/dining/reviews_ledger.ss...ssf?9007?9007_2
  6. For Spanish food, Tapas de España in North Bergen. http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?act=ST&f=5&t=12014
  7. Mamster/Pim Any plans for a follow up course? Advanced Satays and Yum? We made this thai beef salad dish last night, in honor of your course.
  8. Rebeccas is a nice restaurant, yes. The cafe next door, Cafe Archetypus, is an interesting place to go for dessert and coffee afterwards.
  9. Kervan is really the only decent restaurant in Cliffside Park. Its Turkish/Middle Eastern food. For much more casual dining in Cliffside, Its Greek To Me was just renovated but its basically a sandwich/gyro kind of place. Good food though. More of a lunch place. In Fort Lee and Leonia you've got a lot of Korean options, if you like that kind of food. In Ridgefield Park off Route 46 (about 5 minutes away) in the office park complex there's Gasho, a pretty good Japanese-style steakhouse. Arguably the best chinese restuarant in NJ, China 46 (http://www.china46.com) , also in Ridgefield, is about 2 minutes from that.
  10. It is kind of strange though that you are walking IN a refrigerator and stuff like meat is just sitting on shelves and not IN refrigerated cabinets.

    Dinner! 2003

Thai/Vietnamese Beef Salad with cellophane noodles, made with yesterday's leftover sliced strip steak. Yum.
  12. Been there, done that. Now all we need is a girl on girl spread with her and Nigella, and we'd be alll set.
  13. Put them in big paper bags and close them up, they will ripen faster. Especially if you put a banana in with them.
  14. Guys, whats the difference between a mexican molcajete and the thai mortar thats used to make curry pastes? Can you use either?
  15. Tons of premade unsweetened Ice Tea. However, they're all asian brands. Oolongs and Black teas and Green all in 2 liter and 1 liter bottles. You need to go to a chinese, japanese or korean supermarket. Korean preferably because they are the cheapest.
  16. Great job, guys. That curry (and everything else) looks wonderful. I noticed though in this Mussamun recipe there's no potatoes. Why's that?
  17. Had a pretty decent Nederburg 2000 Pinotage this evening that matched well with the NY Strip Steak we had for dinner. Fruit bomb with soft tannins, controlled oak, good acid, but a bit boozy at 13.5. Still can't complain for a $7.99 wine at Stew Leonard's.

    Dinner! 2003

Sliced New York Strip Steak (Purchased from Stew Leonards) with Broccoli, Mashed Potatoes and sauteed Mushrooms (not shown)
  19. Jason--I listed Christians as being open in August 2003 on Table Hopping With Rosie. I don't think they have been open 9 months. Check the original La Posada thread. The restaurant was finished and remodelled in January - I can't imagine it took 7 months after that.

    The Wine Clip

So basically its like a catalyst for the oxidation effect? However, do you really need to spend $80 on something that simply allowing a wine to breathe for 15-30 minutes will do the same thing? Nevertheless I am impressed its not totally snake oil. I suppose there are some people out there that are too impatient to let their wine breathe. Hell I even know some people like that. I suppose in a restaurant setting when people want to drink the wine right away, as opposed to drinking it at home, this may have some use.
  21. Welcome to the site, Bill!
  22. The location sucks. It was previously a pretty good Spanish/Mexican fusion restaurant, La Posada. http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?act=ST&f=5&t=4439 Christian's has been open at least 9 months, it opened in January of 2003. As far as we know, nobody has gone into this place yet.
  23. I have found tremendous regional variation and store to store differences for both BK and McD. Some places suck and are utterly revolting, and some are good. It depends on the management and how much turnover they have. Same deal with Wendys.
  24. Personally, I like "The Jewish Tailor". Its the right neighborhood for it too. "The Garment Factory" works for me too.
