  1. The promised Costco Fresh store in Seattle has been scrapped. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/busi...0_costco01.html
  2. See article: http://www.oregonlive.com/search/index.ssf...17854287320.xml
  3. I did wonder what was in that flask she kept nipping from during the early music concert!
  4. I tried to make a reservation unsuccessfully recently. It was the chef who answered the phone. At the end of the conversation he said "Thank you for thinking of us." A small thing, but it left an impression, and I intend to eat there someday soon.
  5. How's that work? I've never seen this magazine in any store or heard of it. Is it a freebie to doctor's offices or something?
  6. It would be nice to eat there, if only one could navigate their yes-we-do/no-we-don't reservation policy. I've become very aggravated with them.
  7. Bringing this to the top as a reminder. What time should we meet? Is 12:15 safe, or maybe 12:30? Kathy
  8. Called the number. The Hiram's property has been sold to "Northwest Events and Parties."
  9. I agree. I was very surprised at how appealing the recipes in Cooking Light can be. I like Saveur -- I admit it's partly because the design and layout are so attractive. Food & Wine isn't even a contender. It's a thin, unsubstantial magazine that usually seems pretty short on recipes compared to other magazines. The kind of thing you find in the doctor's office.
  10. At the dim sum brunch yesterday, some of us talked about the possibility of getting a group together for dinner at Le Pichet. Since it's such a small place, I said I would call and ask how large a group they can accommodate. The answer is 8.
  11. You had lunch in Seattle yesterday! But really, you will have to take some time off one day soon so we can all go to Salumi.
  12. I'd like to join you. This week's Square One menu also sounds more interesting to me. Kathy
  13. Men don't really have hips to swing. Not like that anyway. What is the restaurant called? That has been the mystery all along.

    Cassoulet Night

Cassis serves cassoulet every Sunday, and I love that place. I believe scrat and tighe have had it and told me that it was really good.
  15. Can someone make Porn Cheerleader and Mr. Banana dance next to each other??
  16. I really wish I could go. Monday nights suck.
  17. Just heard from them: "Hi Kathy, We are pleased that the response to our falernum is as great as it is. We will hopefully have falernum available on the west coast by early Spring 2003. We will let you know when it will be ready! Also, check out our websites on foursquarerum.com and doorlysrum.com! Very best regards, Ken Olsen"
  18. Yes, I also emailed Spirit of Hartford, but they haven't written me back yet. Glad to know they're hearing from more than one of us!! You can purchase Velvet Falernum through www.foursquarerum.com. They would take a credit card number and FedEx a bottle to you, but I don't know how much it costs. Quite a bit, I suspect. The email address is: rlseale@caribsurf.com The Foursquare Rum people told me that Spirit of Hartford might have a couple of bottles they'd be willing to sell, but as I said, I haven't heard back from SoH yet.
  19. Don't know where you are, but recently I visited my son who lives in San Jose. He and the "guys" (all software programmers - are there no women out there?) were getting together one night and one of them had brought a jar of Pace. So I hopped in the car and went to a nearby grocery store and bought three bottles of Herdez - a mild, med & hot. Naturally, these extremely discriminating diners pronounced it superior. And my son tells me it is their new standard. So, where are you? Seattle. There are a couple of Hispanic stores at Pike Place Market I can check.
  20. Thank you. I didn't see that. I have emailed them and will let you know what they say. Their "Order Now!" button is only for ordering a barrel rum for New Year's Eve 2000! Hmmm.
  21. I've looked for the Herdez salsa in two large, superior grocery stores and could not find it. Do they not sell it on the West Coast?
