  7. lolita's, formerly random ,now open on davie
  8. not sure if coffee bars qualify here but java express 1st and commercial even though its damned competitive down there it always seemed full of what seemed to be loyal die-hards and maybe this could be a new topic started , called "start the egg-timer places soon to close" but was by ohana hawaiian bbq the other day and place was empty with chef sititing out front with what appeared think to be other staff, never a good sign!
  9. been a few times for a-y-c-e lunch a carnivores dream but make sure to have a jug of water on the table as the meat is incredibly salty
  10. yup, its chinese run so they have all sorts of burgers as well as chow mein
  11. stellas belgian resto on the drive on corner of grandview park, owned by dean mallel of incendio(s) , kinda dissapointed in belgian beer selection (used to live there) only about 4 or 5 of them, also heavy on the tapas, kinda got the feeling he's trying to ride on the coat-tails of chambar with the whole belgian thing, but just opened so there is still hope
  12. went by library today and saw them clearing chairs out of fox and fiddle asked oneof the guys if he knew what was going in there next, he said another bar, i don't get it, terrible location so far death count at one restaurant and one pub
  13. the place on davie is called soho they have $ 0.25 wings all day tuesdays and thursdays, went and checked it out, they weren't great, they were asdvertised as thai curry but it was actaually more like indian curry and they were pretty damned miniscule, (.25 was all they were worth, HOWEVER the huge saving grace of the place is the very cheap beer, all pints are $3.75 including all the imports like stella artois and even guiness( an incredible deal!)
  14. not sure of that, would guess they'll have momo's but as for them being buff as in nepal, for price reasons they might'nt be

  23. pepita's was mentioned in the entertainment book thread, so i thought that if it was referring to the denman location( maybe the only one?)i thought i'd post the news here , sorry to say it too is gone and been replaced by pacific crab co.
  24. ok one more to mention but kinda significant i'd say major chutney ( cambie & 18 th ish) significant as i believe the only fijian-indian resto in van, and i also noticed that the old fox and firkin on davie is now sold, very much anticipating what will end up there as what are the odds of a pub and a mc donald's going out of business in a prime hood like that let alone in the same location, jinxed location ?
  25. nick's is defo not cheap, its the "hole in wall" where jimmy pattison likes to go to prove what a common everyday guy he is, come on jimmy we know better
