  1. It was in a food court in the basement of a department store in Seoul S. Korea. There was a picture of a dog, it looked like the one in the Hush Puppy commercials, and it had a big red circle around it with the red slash across it. I asked if it meant no pets allowed and I was told No, it means we don't serve dog meat.

  2. A return to this thread conjured up a dish from prep school. It was called "Elephant Scabs."

It cosisted of a breaded chicken-like patty about the size of a dinner plate which would be topped with a laddle of melted Velveta and a smaller ladle full of tomato sauce. It looked like its name. It was often the alternative choice to liver and onions. I won't even begin that trip to the culinary morgue.

  3. I have been a number of times recently. I am now a junky for ma po tofu, the shredded pork soup # 4; dumplings in spicy broth and cold chicken in spicy sauce. I had the beef and noodle dish, which the owners wife was more like the dan dan noodle you would get in china which was quite good. The dan dan noodle off the english menu was good too but I'm going for the heat so it doesn't hold a lot of interest for me. The wife and I also tried the spicy chicken in lettuce cups of the english menu which had some real flavor.

The owner and the wife, as well as the waiters will translate the menu for you. They seemed more willing to tell me about everything "including the really hot dishes after I ordered Ma Po tofu then asked for help with the translation.

I'm told the fish hot pot is the hottest on the menu but that is for my next visit.

  4. Stoudt's brewery in Adamstown off of 272 has a very nice restaurant with fine dining. Their beef, duck and seafood are excellent. If you like beer Stoudt's is top notch stuff.

You not exactly sure where you live but you could probably go out 222 west toward Lancaster to the 272 exit.

Should be about 1/2 hour or so one way for you to get there.

Here is the URL for Stoudts for hours and more information.

  5. Well, the party was yesterday.

The cake AMAZING, sorry for the lack of picture camera has been missing for a few days.

The cake was light moist packed with fresh fruit and pastry cream. The absolute best cake I ever had.

We had ordered a cake for 40-50 people and had 34 in attendance. The cake was gone in under a 1/2 hour. None was left half eaten. Nothing but a ring of frosting left behind.

Thank you all for the tips. I will definately use Aux Petit Delices again. Sometimes living out here in Chester County isn't bad.

  6. I went with Aux Petits Delices. I ordered the Tahitian for 40-50 people. It is a white sponge with Strawberries, Raspberries, Mangos and Kiwi in a creme. It has fondant top and a white chocolate bottom.

I tried a slice before ordering.....the things I do for love.

This was one of the best pieces of cake I ever had. Thanks for all the tips.

  7. I was inspired by the Mayhaw Man's recent journal of his party.

Looking at all the wonderful pictures of the food I remembered how much fun I had doing a Madi Gras party.

I have decided I must do a Madi Gras party again..

    This time with pictures!

    Let the good times roll.

Stay tuned and Yes there will be turduckhen.

  8. Cafe Mosaic in North Coventry. $$

422 to 100S on left about 2-3 miles south of the intersection.

I went there for lunch today with my wife. We split a bowl of tomato soup (I ordered it she decided she wanted in when it got to the table, a good sign) with puff pastry, which was hot and delicious. A slight drizzle of basil oil for a hint of flavor but it did not interfere with the tomato taste one bit. It was a nice deep red. I'll definitely order that again.

My wife had a salad on mixed greens with poached shrimp (5) and in the center a nice portabello stuffed with dungeons crab. Also very good.

I went with Kobe beef burgers (2 four oz burgers) one topped with shitakes and onions, the other cheese and bacon. Served Medium. Just like I ordered it! I was craving a burger fix and it fit the bill. It came with some fries that were good but I wish were a little crisper.

We both had dessert a piece of cheesecake in a chimi with banana sprinkled with cinnamon sugar with bananas foster sauce. The plate was nicely decorated and very tasty.

Service, alas, the waiter a disappointment. But the dishes were brought out by the sous chef (odd but we ate late and it was not overly busy) who was a very nice guy and made sure we were happy. He was great to talk to and you could tell he loved what he was doing.

My wife and I had stopped in when it first opened and it was okay but not great. It was clear they were pulling things together. They are up to speed now.

    Tab with tip was $50.00.

They are BYOB with wine service. There is a wine and spirit store in the shopping center that is handy.

Price to value: Went in hungry and really hoped for something good. We were both tired of ho hum food when we went out and were pleasantly surprised. I will go back to try their dinner menu.
