  1. Had a chance to stop for lunch today.

I ordered the dumplings in spicy broth

Fish in Hot pot sauce and Ma Po Tofu

I have enjoyed the dumplings and Ma Po Tofu before and they were great as usual.

The fish in hot pot sauce was great. If you could eat burning napalm I imagine that would be the best way to describe the heat in this dish. WOW! Best part was, you could taste everything. Serious heat but the flavors of the fish, garlic pieces, green onion were clean and good.

The staff again stood and stared wondering what possed me to order these dishes.

  2. There is a place in West Chester called Koorma. Kind of a fusion place. They have bimbimbap, in regular bowls and the hot iron pot (my preferred method). They menu states it is made with scrambled egg but I have asked for a lightly fried egg every time and they made it the way I asked. Great stuff. Like what I had in Korea.

  3. here's one from last night,

I call this 'Blackened Turds on a Plate'

it really was deep fried lotus root topped with seasoned fish paste and a sheet of nori (laver seaweed) and it was really good.

I imagine knowing you are about to start a week long blog the next day must have been the reason. Get the train wrecks out of the way before it counts!

  4. I do this every year. I tell them to pick the country, let me know if they have any dislikes or allergies, then I pick what to cook. A protein or two, veggie, soup salad and dessert. I tend to stay away from the breads because I am a baking whimp. I try to buy some music from the country, a couple travel posters to leave behind, a copy of the menu and a bottle of the local wine or beer and Liquor, i.e., grapa for an after dinner drink. The bottle comes home with me.

I always have fun, even when the dinners are bought by the not so nice, it actually provided the chance to develop a friendship.

  5. If you go south on route 1 past dixie bones about 1/2 mile is a mexican restaurant that has some great food. You can point if you spanish isn't up to par. It just trying to figure out when they call your number.

I found Dixie Bones on the way down to NC once. Nice find for road food.

    Another great travel log thanks!

  6. Grub:

We all take hit now and then. You should really use that pic to start a separate thread....If you make it they will post. It will be great for a laugh. I'm destined to join you. Some of my "new dishes" go wrong, in a big way, as well.

I made meatloaf for the (now wife) once it was a slurry like affair. I never touched the dam stuff again. No matter how long I cooked it, it never lost its horrid consistentcy.

She makes a fine meatloaf (I let her cook once every year or so) so we compliment each other.

Your lastest attempt at salmon wellington has come very far since your first try.

I look for to you sucesses as well as the one that are no so much....It makes me feel comfortable posting here.
