Dude, that sucks! Yeah, I do like a Hebrew National dog. Lately down here they've been using Sinai 66, which are good but I think the Hebrew National are better. You'd think that being Kosher there would be much less concern about mad cow. Oh well. Rocky

Does anyone know of any good halal/muslim chinese places in Vancouver? I keep hearing that they exist but I haven't been able to find one and since I don't get down to LA very often anymore I am really craving. There are none to be found in Seattle. Rocky

If you make it down here to Seattle, there are a number of street vendors outside of Safeco Field with excellent dogs as well as Matt's a mini chain around town with many locations to serve you to satisfy a Chicago dog craving as well as Italian Beefs. We also have Diggity Dog, man oh man. By the way, what about Costco? No one likes Costco? Or, do they not serve good Kosher dogs in Vancouver? Rocky

I like Tini Bigs quite a bit, it can get pretty loud though, and is fairly smoky if that bothers you. They do a good job with their drinks and I am trying to make my way through the entire list of martinis. They also have a nice selection of all types of whisk(e)y and cognac, with cigars to match. I have to confess to a vice . at the top of Queen Anne Hill is the 5 Spot, open fairly late, nothing spectacular about the food except one thing. FRIED GREEN TOMATOES!! Cornmeal dusted and fried in bacon drippings, need I say more? If you happen to go to the top of the hill and you get a hankering for a plate of bad for you, then this might fit the bill. Rocky

I am a sucker for om-rice, japanese curry, croquettes, and chipped beef on rice, there's something about japanese diner food I CRAVE every now and then. Fort St George has been the spot for me so far to take care of that. I also love that the bar doubles as the salad station there. Rocky

I have to say I like dressing for the occaision, any occaision. I think we've gone a little too far in becoming casual in our dress and how we view places. I would love a restaurant that required white tie for men and evening wear for women, with equally spectacular food and drink to match. This would not be an everday dining experience, but a special thing, but like I said I like dressing up. I'm the sort of person that likes the feel of a nice suit and a bespoke shirt, the decadence of a freshly shined pair of shoes, I like topcoats and gloves in the winter, linen shirts and suits in the summer, I think that something was lost when we gave up wearing hats, and cuff links became something to wear with a tux. I think that dressing nicely for a nice place shows respect for the people who work there, your fellow patrons, and also yourself. Take the time to do something special, life is too short for everything to be ordinary and everyday. I know I go on like this every time the subject of dress and reataurants comes up but I feel really strongly about it. I will often refrain from going someplace because I feel that I am not dressed for it. If I want other people to refrain from walking into a nice restaurant in ratty jeans or going to the symphony in shorts then I should practice what I preach. Okay, stopping to take a deep breath. If a restaurant asks for a certain type of dress they're trying to put together a certain atmosphere, far be it from me to make them fit my idea of what the atmosphere should be and what they're trying to achieve. Fish, crustacea and shellfish for food purposes in aquariums; B. Fish in aquariums for display or decor; C. Patrol dogs accompanying security or police officers; or D. Guide dogs or service dogs, as defined under RCW 70.84, are allowed to accompany a blind, visually handicapped, hearing impaired or otherwise physically disabled person in all areas of a food service establishment. (R&R 91 §1(part), 5-14-93) RCW 70.84 then goes on to define service animals, the rights of people with service animals, and penalties for violation of this code. Rocky

I've been to more drug company dinners at El Gaucho and Daniel's than I can count. The steak places in Seattle get chosen very often. Waterfront and Dahlia get picked very often also. On the other hand all of these places have pretty good event staffs because of that. Kaspar's and Palisades also get the call quite often when the weather is nice. I think I went to three dinners in a row at Palisades last year all within a month. I keep trying to do something at Union and just haven't gotten the stars to line up quite yet, Ethan is perfectly willing to shut down for a large party as long as it's not a Friday or Saturday. I've also had success at Tulio in the past. Is this a dinner/lecture or a more social event? Rocky
