On several occaisions I have woken up on a Saturday morning really tempted to jump in the car and drive like mad down to Eureka, the closest In n' Out to here. I can always tell how many California transplants there are because inevitably some will eventually bring up In n' Out. Double Double, fries, and a strawberry shake, ahh heaven. Rocky

Many QFCs have a very extensive Kosher section, if I remember right the one at U-Village has chicken fat. Rocky

If you email Kim Ricketts she may be able to help you out, the photographer's name is Andrea and she's a photo student at Seattle Central and said at tne Andrea Immer dinner that she would have the pictures ready in a few weeks. Finals are about to start in a week or so here so if you don't hear anything that may be why. Rocky -

Okay, January 13th at 730~800 PM and the list of people going so far looks like: LEDlund White Lotus Little Ms Foodie +1 LaurieA-B and Mamster SeaGal Eden Sequim Malarkey - ? BastilaShan - ? Any specific requests for food? After talking with the owner, he's talking about a Traditional Taiwanese Banquet (he spoke in capitals ), or we can put together our own menu. Anyone else who wants to go or has suggestions or requests just PM me back or post below. Thanks. Rocky

I had lunch at Union yesterday and asked Hans if Thomas Keller was coming or not and he said that it was almost a done deal. He also said that they are trying to get Mario and Armadino to do a joint dinner as well. Nothing is definite yet but oooh yeah! Rocky -
Okay, so far it's looking like Thursday January 13 is the winner. Let me know of anyone has any problems with this. Rocky

Has anyone ever used one of the aeration funnels with filters that you see in the IWA catalogue? All this talk of decanting suddenly reminded me them, I've been kind of curious about them for a while. Rocky -
It's a Taiwanese restaurant, so there's a lot of chinese standards to go along with the specialties. Like Laurie said the fried breads are good, they have steamed bowl cakes, Taiwanese meatballs, Tainan style chow mein, they make their own dumplings and wontons from scratch, stews, chicken rolls, there's also a definite szechuan influence to the cooking as well. Oh, they may have the best salt and pepper chicken around too. Rocky

Okay, so for dates it's sounding like everything is filling up before the holidays and to keep from adding to the crunch how about either Thursday January 6, Sunday January 9, or Thursday January 13? Rocky

Hi Wendy, It's in Wallingford on Interlake and 43rd across the street from Lincoln High School. Definitely the tucked away somewhere type of place. Rocky

I'd like to try and organize a dinner at Rocking Wok, seating is not really limited unless you count a cap of about 30 to be limiting. So the more the merrier. Would you guys prefer before or after the holiday season? Any requests? What price range is comfortable? They are very willing to put together a menu that will satisfy any budget and desire, especially for the "weird" stuff. Rocky

I had lunch at Andaluca yesterday, they have always had pretty generous $25/$25 menu and they did not dissapoint this time. They had three choices for all three courses, the choices for the first course were a spinach salad, a warm lentil ragout with crisp prosciutto and poached egg, and a scallop gratin. The entree choices were a prawn fettucine, pumpkin risotto, and chicken skewers. The dessert choices were an apple butter tart, pomegranate sorbet, and chocolate gelato. With three of us there we each tried the different appetizers and they were all uniformly good. The lentil ragout was definitely for people who like lentils though, all lentils all the time. We all had the prawn fettucine for our entree as the waiter highly recomended it and it was very good, a nice creamy tomato sauce that did not overpower with a generous number of prawns with a nice pea vine presentation surrounding the pasta. We each tried a different dessert, the chocolate gelato was nothing special, not bad by any means but nothing special. The apple tart was cold throughout by the time it was served and the ice cream on top didn't help but it was still tasty and really dense. The pomegranate sorbet was a beautiful red and had a nice amount of pomegranate on top. The staff was attentive and seemed to be happy for people to order the $25/$25 menu all in all another good experience for Andaluca. Rocky

I'm a big fan of the squishy kind, with a nice hint of butter to it, but crusty is good too as long as the inside is nice and soft. Rocky

Christmas is coming the goose is getting fat..... Okay, so maybe not Christmas but Thanksgiving is coming, and I have a burning question. Where are the best rolls in Seattle? I am flat out horrible at baking so don't even go there. Thanks. Rocky

Is anyone else going to the Andrea Immer dinner on Monday? Rocky -
Take the bus and head to the Ave for lunch, lots of choices, most of them well done but nothing too out there unless you really want it. You could also try the Seattle Central lunches, with their constantly changing menus you could hit a lot of different things without having something familiar available also. Rocky
