I would say with my limited travels YYZ and YVR have a pretty good collection of them - YVR had an influx of many folks from HKG when there was the fear and uncertainity of what would happen to HKG post handover. That spured a resurgence of excellent restaurants in the western Canada.

In our trip to PRG, last year; we took some time to drive up the country - near the edge of Slovakia - Had opportunity to sample a few - Given the fact that in PRG, imported whisky is very expensive, one had to revert to local beer on tap - Which is rather good and relatively strong. Did you try the Budvar ? and the original Bud ?

As I mentioned elsewhere - Aussies were very powerful even without Shane - They successfully defended it without loss. India, only lost to AUS;

The one by rue des Archives ? If that is the one in question then In all honesty when we there last time, I had gotten my shoes wet (it was raining) and the constant feeling of wet socks etc. spoilt the mood and enjoyment of my meal.

Aussies off to a great start I gather (at this hour - 13th over)

This is probably my second post on this thread. I have noted a tendency in these boards for people to use embedded words and couched terms to attack ethnicities that some how is deemed inferior. Race-baiting to me is a very offensive facet of many western places and people. I've experienced it world wide. Injecting words like race and racism, and personal attacks are trademarks of folks who want to put down a sub-group or ethnicity -- Very similar to asking someone to stop abusing their children and beating their wives In my world I find many clueless people - an example of it would be using security and Microsoft is same breadth or Open Source to be equiv. of communists A vast majority of Indians are Hindus and vegetarians - The only group of brahmins who are non-vegetarians are from WB & Kashmir - The cooking of meats whatever they are, are influenced from the conqouring Mughals and the Portugese. I really have no intent to incite, bait, agitate or disturb anyone who can easily get excited, aroused or baited. On the other hand in how many of these places (not really all are countries) have you all eaten ?

I think only the clueless and prejudiced folks call and lump all different cooking as Indian Bengali cuisine is so different from Maharastrian, which differs from Gujurat, which differs from Awadhi. Not to talk about the vast difference between Kerela and Punjab. There is more similarity between some regional French and Northern Italian, than between Kashmiri and Mysorian cuisine. In fact the differences in Kashmiri and Mysorian are as structural as ingredients, spices and techniques are quite different. Even the langauages that one speak in the South are different from the North. The languages spoken in the south do not even fall within the Indo_European linguistic framework. How would the westerners feel if a villager in India, who has never travelled to any European country, lumped all French,German,Polish,Hungarian,Bulgarian cuisines and cooking as "vilayati" cuisine ? On top his understanding of the food came from restaurants in India calling the food European or continental In india, people who can afford, and appreciate good food find it in Clubs an Gymkhanas, restaurants will rarely compete in that arena. I cannot imagine BreachCandy Club, or old Juhu Gymkhana ever having o worry about competition from restaurants in 5star hotels

This was the practice at Chicama as well. William Grimes wrote a condescending "Critic's Notebook" piece about it in 2000. I had lunch at Ola today and found the food to be substantially the same as the food at Chicama. I enjoyed my meal. I like Douglas Rodriguez's food. I think he's probably a better chef than his current restaurants indicate. Come to think of it - I forgot about the same in Chicama - Thanks for pointing out. My best experience in Chicama; which I could not repeat at Ola was four of us ordering four different ceviche and getting a taste of each.

I guess the inevitable happened Having worked till wee hours on the morning - I slept till late in the morning - Woke up to note that the match was still going on - Ind Vs Ken. I was in Del when Ind lost to Aus, and the subsequent backlash in all major cities I guess Sunday is going to be Badla Bollywood style no ?

Damn ! I wonder where in NYC (I mean which restaurant) one could have it ? I do not recollect Rice on Mott St. serving this

My regular libation is Irish Whisky Mojito sometimes

Sorry my mistake in using IATA codes. In IATA terms, HKG represents HongKong. I am mostly on flyertalk, which has a side-effect of my using Airport codes to represent cities. I did not prepare them. In season, you'd find these in the night-market in Kowloon.

Bebidas: .............--take one. You'll feel the heat of the jungle and the strength of the mountains coursing through your body. Tell me about it Actually your analogy is quite apt. I'm going to use it liberally to describe similar drinks
-
What's this please? Don't know ! It was some kind of flowers with small leaves - I had these in HKG mostly. Never quite saw anything like it in the markets here in NYC. I'll probe my HKG friends if they can translate to an occidental equivalent.

Sookha means dry; and it should read haldiram (I made a typo) previously. Haldiram is a well known packager of dry fruitsand goodies , also has a hugh restaurant in the outskirts of Delhi. Boti Kebab is a kind of skewer mutton grilled. Me ? A jackal hmmm

SIN and HKG are both modern and very convenient airports If one has club access what difference does it make who has better restaurants -- you just hang around in the bar, oogle at the eye candy and maybe nibble or two before the flight

Yup ! Yup !! Kai Tak landings were phenomenal. But from another perspective these cannot be beat in breadth or in scale A favourite activity at the beach. Actually I cherished the window seat while landing at Kai Tak

GJ: I'm not pulling your chain nor nitpicking but I wanted to know what you meant by western indian ? To me, the term -- Western Indian means from the state Maharastra (where I grew up) or Gujurat and to some extent Goa. West Indian, to me ofcourse means Jamaica or Barbados &Trinidad (home to Cricket World cup 2007)
-
What do you mean it's not indian ? So what if the owner and the chef say so !!! They are wrong !!! 199 of the 200 folks have triple-des IRC'd me, and half of them, who were indians, and ABCDs no less !!! and 80% of them drive taxis (they should know good indian food by smelling the spices ) and they say the Chef and owner are plain wrong
