  1. On the corner of Mosco Street (or is it alley, or is it even Mosco)? Are you referring the woman selling "hot cakes?" There are a number of stands around selling these litte balls of pancake or waffle batter. They're always sold as "hot cakes" -- sometimes as "Hong Kong hot cakes" -- although once I noticed a stand where they were being made faster than they were being sold and little bags of them were piling up. It occured to me that they weren't selling like hot cakes. ← Well Bux, I was referring to the dim sum, and got caught-up in the sub referencing. However, I have found it. BTW, I get the impression that you don't like asian hot cakes. Sun Hop Shing Tea House 21 Mott St (212) 962-8650

  5. This is just another example of "Foodies & Trendies" making more out of something then it really is. Look, I love all things food, history, blah blah ect. However some of the madness that blogs-on today is insane. My Italian grandmother never owned a digital scale, Viking stove, and cooked in old aluminum pots,(well she does have Alzheimer’s today, but it runs in her family) Yet she produced perfect, delicious meals daily. The thing that I still remember is the cooking by sound, I still can't do this. Well that's my take on it!
  6. GG, I'm ready to ham it-up. Chef coat is pressed an-red to-go!

  19. I totally agree, but this is Wylie Dufresne we're talking about so I'd still probably like to try these noodles. ← I remember his first NY Times write-up, I think the place was called "60/40". Can someone help me here? I followed him ever since, chick pea fries mmmm.

  21. “Ladies, (boy if I wasn’t married) this sounds like a reality show in the making.” “GIVE ME MORE!”
  22. Popeye's fried chicken liver dinner. Mmm. ← Haven't seen that menu item in their Philadelphia locations. Or maybe I just haven't been looking for it. Anyway, I "Love That Chicken" too. KFC is not an acceptable substitute--not even their spicy version. Maybe a bigger heresy, though: Here I live in Hoagie Heaven, and there are times when I just gotta go to Quizno's. Hope nobody on the Pennsylvania board is reading this topic. I'm also a sucker for Auntie Anne's soft pretzels with mustard or cheese or with their powdered sour cream-and-onion topping--that is, assuming I'm nowhere near Fisher's pretzel stand in the Reading Terminal Market. Edited to add: My local Popeye's opened where for many years a White Castle stood. Talk about guilty pleasures! I could pig out on a dozen of those cute little creatures. ← OMG! There are time when I knaw the crunchy stuff clean from the bone. I think they are bones anyway?
  23. Pray describe a little more. Belly or strips? ← "The Clam Shack's! (Two Light, Portland ME.) Whole Belly and lobster rolls RULE!" Harry Da' Jersey Guy
  24. OK! GUESS IT"S ONLY ME! He said, in a pisst-OFF TONE!
  25. Have to admit Mcd's not my fav fry spot. Just trying to hit a point home. Also the grease, & salt -(minus) potato is what makes them so GOOD! (Hey isn't that low carb?) NYC 2nd ave. Belg Fites, LOVE THESE! However, NJ Shore white vinger fries, fried in oil from last year, I buy'em a pail at a time.
