  1. What better eG foodblog itinerary could there be than to travel from NYC to Europe? It's a pretty long walk, a lot of it uphill, so I'll give you a few days to contemplate... What's the exact final destination? We will arrive on Monday, 2 October, after the very exciting current tour of Brooklyn. We've had some requests to visit this locale. I'm sure you'll agree that it's been worth waiting for.
  2. We are going from the country setting of Kerry's blog, to more of a city setting from the next blogger. Besides that, I suspect that these photos serve as clues enough about the identity of the next eG foodblogger, who will begin Monday, 25 September. Cheers!
  3. Welcome! It sounds like so much fun to start with a shiny-clean almost-empty fridge, stock it and the rest of the kitchen, and go to it! Food, with a back drop of such beautiful scenery again... We blog fans are blessed! Enjoy.
  4. My cousin and friend, Gina, was drawn to the eGullet Society by your blog and joined so that she could ask you a question; however, your blog might be over before her waiting-period-to-post is. So, I'll ask. Do you know of a restaurant in SLC called Lamb's? She lived in SLC with her first husband and her daughter was born there, and she worked at Lamb's for several years. She said it's not fancy, but really, really good.
  5. Slight change in the schedule, which I'm sure everyone will be delighted to hear... Due to the "technical difficulties" in the beginning of Bill's blog and the period of uncooperative weather during the blog, it will be extended through tomorrow, Sunday, 17 September.
  6. More beautiful scenery is on it's way... We have had some great eG foodbloggers, haven't we? Well, so it continues... The next one is going to be sweet. We stay on the continent of North America. I am especially grateful to our next blogger because there was a miscommunication regarding the next blog week, and the member I thought was going to blog is not able to. That member will remain nameless for now, in case he/she reschedules. The blogger who is stepping in is willing to do so with less planning and preparation time than any other blogger in recent weeks. This member has been "on standby" in case something like this occured. Prepare to be impressed. Flocko's beautiful blog will officially continue through late Saturday night, and the topic will remain open through Sunday. The next blog will begin Monday morning, 18 September. There is a major hint in this post. If somebody figures this one out, y'all are really good.
  7. I don't have much detail in my memory about the flavors, but I thought this pairing was a surprise worthy of note. One afternoon recently I went to a restaurant that has fairly good wine and beer selections, and they make recommendations for pairings. I ordered a cup of the shrimp bisque which is rich and creamy and slightly spicy. I didn't have my brain in gear to make my own choice of what wine to drink, so I asked for the waiter's recommendation, and when he suggested a blend of pinot grigio and chardonnay, I really wondered. I could imagine chardonnay, but dry pinot grigio threw me. It matched up well! I really like the Seghesio Zinfandels I've had. That pairing sounds good.
  8. LOL! I meant to mention before, but forgot, I was thinking the Zion Pizza and Noodle Co. was in Moab. My bad.
  9. Awww, this photo shows the table where we sat when we were there. ...The one in the bottom left of the picture. You are making me homesick for a part of the world I visited only once. I too can attest, especially to how good the Scorpion Pale Ale is -- and the soup (Bill got me the recipe for the soup, after my trip out there). Thank you for the brewery photos!
  10. Just wanted to let you you know that I saw this topic and I think it's a great idea. I'll be ready to contribute soon. Lately, I've been getting over some difficult times, resulting in physical illness, but now my appetite for food and wine (and life in general!) is returning. I'll post here when I either search out and find a great pairing, or stumble across one. Thanks for starting this.
  11. That sounds heavenly. It's a new taste combination that I will try. Bill, you know more than any other eG-ers how much I love your area, and how moved I am by your blog. I would respond to specific posts, but then my post would take up way too much time and space. For now, I will ask (and wonder if you wondered how long it would take me to ask you this... ) if you are going to get to Moab Brewery this week, even though you don't drink that delicious beer. Everyone: Bill was one of the very helpful eG-ers who helped me plan the roadtrip I took with my Danish son and his then-girlfriend in 2005. I loved the Polygamy Porter, too, and wow, the Scorpion Pale Ale... What I would give for one of those now. Here is a report-back I posted afterwards. Bill, is the Zion Pizza and Noodle Co. still there? I still plan to get back out there someday and take you up on your offer to buy me a beer at the brewery. Also, I hope you will talk about you house, your dream home, in more detail... P.S. Thanks for the gazpacho recipe, you and guajolote! It looks like a good twist on a favorite of mine. Yum is right!
  12. eG foodblog fans, we are having some "technical difficulties" with posting images. Please stay tuned for additional posts while we work on resolving this. I promise you, the continuing blog brought to us from the place often called God's Country will be worth the temporary wait. Thank you for your patience and in the meantime, please feel free to post questions and comments for Bill.
  13. Y'all are good. Let's see if we can stump you this time, following suit with the same type hints. After this FABULOUS blog ends late Saturday night, the next begins Sunday morning. It's a male blogger, and he lives closer to the left coast than the right coast of the USA. He does not live directly on the left coast, though you might not conclude that from this photo of just a little something he whipped up for dinner recently: Maybe this one is a better hint as to his locale:
  14. I'm enjoying your blog so much. We have quite a few similar tastes, as well. Grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches are one of my lifelong favorite things. I'm going to try your marinade, and also the Eggo waffle with peanut butter and jelly or preserves or whatever. The waffle sounds like something quick and easy to eat on busy work mornings. Well, this IS a foodblog...it's important that we be up-to-date on Jean-Luc's habits, too. He's adorable. What's his favorite kind of people-food? ← Yep, coquus. Josie left us a few months ago, after 15 years. Jean-Luc is a hellion. Feeding animals is a big part of my life as well, but I won't yak much about them except when they're noshing or dining. ← ..... and not to mention something else we have in common, a Josie. Is your late Josie a Basset Hound? Don't know if you've come across any of my posts which include mentions of my granddog, Josie. I have her for the two to three years my son expects to be stationed in Japan. I have gotten such a kick out of hearing what Jen-Luc eats. Michael, my son, was strict about keeping her on dog food only, but I've made a few exceptions. I give her a rawhide chewbone once a week and a Greenie once a week, an egg once in a while, a taste of cheese occasionally, a dish of ice cream at the local ice cream store after each vet visit, a ...... I better shut up -- this is a public forum that Michael could possibly read. "Like walking a vacuum cleaner" cracked me up, too. How true. Once on Josie's daily walk, a neighbor told me that they had a Basset named Hoover because he was so much like one. One of the most unusual snacks Josie had lately was the back half of a lizard. We will have to talk more about this in PM...
  15. That was touching, just wonderful... brought tears to my eyes. I have been following along, only more quietly than usual, since I was sick recently. Plus, I'm almost speechless about how great this blog is! ...Foods of love, and the love of food, thank you both very much. I'll be glued to this up through your finish, and please take the time you need into tomorrow morning to bring it to a close.
  16. The eG foodblog after the current hit that's going on now starts this Sunday, 3 September, and runs for a week. Your guessing has been good, so I am going to be stingy with the hints this time: It's a female blogger as you may have concluded from the photo, and she is from the right coast of the USA.
  17. I'm sorry for the period of time that this topic was mistakenly closed! Please feel free to post ending questions and comments through tomorrow.
  18. That's beautiful! That photo could show up displayed and in albums forever. I like the sounds of a Connecticut style lobster roll, made with hot lobster and butter. I'm going to make one of those. Is it anything besides hot lobster and butter on the roll?
  19. Exactly infinity times as much. Momo went for about five years without ever getting a single scrap from the table. Then one day a month or so ago PJ looked over at Momo, looked at a piece of food in his hand, and a lightbulb went off in his head. He extended his arm and made a one-syllable quack-like noise, Momo came over, PJ stuck his arm deep into Momo's jaws of death to deposit a piece of food, Momo politely waited until PJ extracted his arm before swallowing the food, and Momo has never left PJ's side since. ← That is definitely worthy of a great big heartfelt "awwwwww."
  20. Now that Steven's blog is in progress, let's take a sneak peak at the next eG foodblog, which begins on Sunday, 27 August and will run through late Saturday, 2 September. As you know, we're back in North America now. We will stay here for a while and next time we'll get two bloggers for the price of one. Where from I'm not tellin'.....
  21. I am loving this already! Your child is the cutest kid, I found myself just staring at the pictures of him. I bet all eyes are on him in person, too. I had my eyes on the food at Tabla also. Now I'm going to have to make a stop at a small restaurant at Daytona Beach that has good naan breads. Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning, and thank Ellen and PJ too. I hope you enjoy your week.
  22. There are way too many symbols and innuendos here for me, intended or otherwise! It's tempting, but I just can't go there. I've had duck egg breakfasts recently, but I haven't been able to keep up with posts and photos. I'm still tuning in to this topic, though.
  23. I am very interested in this topic and discussion. I've been renovating my kitchen in my dreams for five years. Hopefully some day... It wouldn't be my first dream to come true!

    Duck Eggs

Yeah, I read that, too. I don't know if I can do this. Thanks for all the ideas for duck eggs. I have had no trouble using them up! I will try to post some photos... I've had some really good pasta, salad, breakfasts, and more. The only thing left is The One Egg for Balut. Yikes, I don't know... I have cooked it, but haven't brought myself to crack it open yet.
  25. I'm glad someone other than me made that comment.
