Most of the stewing steak in the UK is shin of beef. Sometimes you can get it bone-in, which is great for additional flavour but the supermarkets only sell it diced up because they suck.* It's great for a long slow cook, it melts away after a few hours in stock *and to be fair the marrow would go off really quickly

It's 11.40pm and I'm roasting 2kg of pork shoulder. It's only halfway through plus time to get the crackling crackled. Why am I like this.

I *detest* people that waste good food for clicks like this. The ponytail guy is usually just chucking barbecue sauce into smashed up pringles and cheese, he features on chef reacts fairly often

I found it weirdly frustrating. I felt like I should have 'grown into it' sort of like how my Ma would serve vile leather and onions when I was young, but once I tried a flash fried piece of liver with onions on toast I was converted forever. There are very few foods I won't or don't eat*, so it feels like a personal failure on some level. *Coriander isn't food!

I found it really difficult to separate the smell from the taste once my brain knew it was going into my mouth. I've tried it a few times hoping to get over it, but no joy. Maybe it's another coriander for me 😄

Thank you all, it makes more sense now. Is it a nationwide chain? It seems to be mostly around California and the South/South-west from what I can tell (my phone hates their website, I promise I'm not being lazy)

I did warn you in my intro post about stoopid questions. What is Trader Joe's exactly? Searching online just pegs it to any other supermarket, but you folk seem to be pretty enthusiastic about it - hence this entire thread - so there must be something I am (once again) missing. What's different about it from err.. I dunno, Safeway?( that's still a US supermarket right?)
