  1. Those are okay. There are better. It's a couple of years out of date, but here is the Minneapolis restaurant guide my wife and I wrote. Bruce
  2. There are some excellent Asian restaurants in Minneapolis. We have Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Malay. We have good Japanese restaurants. Thai is only okay.

Green tea is best. Others are just too sweet. Bruce
  4. Makes sense to me. Bruce
  5. At my company we regularly order group food for large meetings that overrun lunch. My main requirement is that the food is hot. Bruce
  6. Off topic! Isn't there a medical forum? Bruce
  7. Thanks. With this and that and the other thing, there's only time for Point Loma Seafoods on this trip. Bruce
  8. Tammy, should I also know that? (I forget these things.) Bruce
  9. That makes sense. I guess it depends on if you want the top charred or not. Bruce
  10. So, is there any consensus from this thread? Seems that it's just too personal a thing to be able to give advice. Bruce
  11. And for an encore....potato chips out of a vending machine. Ta dah!! Bruce
  12. Thanks for posting info about my dinner. I'm glad someone was there to enjoy it, and especially someone who writes about it. Bruce
  13. Hey! I make that joke, too. I thought I was the only one. Bruce
  14. That, I agree with. But it is reasonable to ask a waiter to divide up a single bill among multiple credit cards in a particular way. Bruce
  15. So much for that nice home cooked meal I've been slaving over all afternoon. But don't you worry about it; I'll just eat it alone by myself in the dark without light. Just wake me up when you return, and I'll reheat the leftovers that you never appreciate. Your mom
  16. There's a business idea in there somewhere.... Bruce
  17. We could start FedExing you breakfast. They have that early morning delivery in some cities. Bruce
  18. as can taking the time to explain the difference btwn the 6 oysters they might be offering that night. it's part of the job. Hear hear.
  19. One hopes that those sorts of people find another profession, one where caring is not so important. Like wrestler. Or computer help desk operator. Or California Gubernatorial candidate. Bruce
  20. This thread, combined with the "who needs steak houses" thread, makes me want to drive over to the St. Paul Farmer's Market this weekend, buy a pile of grass-fed steaks, dig out my cast iron skillet and one of my older Bordeaux, and cook dinner for eight. Maybe I'd have to borrow a second skillet from someone. Bruce
  21. What would happen if you just said "no." As in: "No, we can't put it all on one card. These credit cards are valid forms of payment for the meals, and we would like to use the cards to pay. Since this rule was not stated on the menu or told to us before we ordered, we're sorry but we cannot comply with your request for a single credit card." Nicities aside, who is technically in the right here? I believe that a restaurant saying that they won't divide checks is similar to them saying that they won't make change for a $100. And I believe that if push comes to shove, if you're going to either demand that they divide the check or walk out without paying, that they'll do it. I'd rather the situation not get that ugly, but I think you were treated unfairly. At the very least, a talk with the restaurant manager should have cleared things up. Bruce
  22. Thank you. Bruce
  23. Yep. And that sort of chance encounter is why I still love to travel in France, even after going again and again and again. Bruce
  24. I agree with this. On occasions where I have to divide checks among several credit cards, I either ask the waiter to divide evenly or give him round numbers to put on each card: "$80 on this card, $50 on this card, and the rest on this card." It's not ideal, but so few of us carry cash around these days. I think restaurants have to do this sort of thing, and do it with a smile; it's one of the realities of dining out. Bruce
  25. Wow. Thank you. Bruce
