Meals for the week. Black bean soup Nephew cooked one night. He made Japanese chicken katzu curry. It was pretty good! One day was my husband's birthday. I made him lobster spaghetti Sister and I had crab spaghetti. Before starting to cook these dinners, I made my nephew a baked tortellini with sausage dish since he's allergic to crustaceans, but no pictures of that. Chicken parmesan with pasta Steak, mashed potatoes, spinach, and roasted delicata squash for my husband last night. Sister and I don't eat red meat so we just had the veggies. Nephew was out to dinner with friends.

Some recent dinners. Friday we had local bay scallops over angel hair in a lemon sauce with toasted panko Saturday was fish and chips, made with hake. Monday I wanted a big plate of veggies, so we had a NY Times recipe for roasted root vegetables in a creamy coconut sauce with brown rice. I used two kinds of carrots, harukei turnips, watermelon radishes, fennel, and red onions for the vegetables. Topped with some cashews for crunch.

This is exactly what I am hoping to have for dinner tonight! It will depend on what the fishmonger brings on his truck today. A couple of recent dinners. I have been cleaning out my Dad's house after his passing, which has led to me frantically cleaning out my own house as well. I really hate clutter and mess in general. While going through my pantry, I found a bag of anellini pasta that I did not remember buying. I decided to make a grown up version of spaghettios, with a spicy red sauce and finely minced kale. My nephew had never had spaghettios before and was very unimpressed. He described it as an unsatisfying cross between a stew and a soup, with a pasta shape that is not fun to eat. OK then, guess I won't make this again 🤣 The next night, we had wonton soup with spiralized carrots and radishes, blue oyster mushrooms, chopped napa cabbage, and (store bought) chicken-ginger wontons And last night, I made soup again, this time loaded mashed potato flavor to use up some leftover mashed potatoes in the fridge.

Two recent dinners: crab cake with horseradish remoulade and a fennel-apple salad with rice pilaf (nephew had a steak, not pictured) Homemade "takeout Chinese food" to make it allergy friendly for my nephew: mushroom and egg fried rice, no-crab rangoons, and fried chicken bits

Airline Food: The good, the bad and the ugly

I've been cleaning out my Dad's house after his passing. Today I found this old Aer Lingus menu from a flight he probably took in the early to mid 80s. He used to travel to Ireland for business back when he worked for Digital Equipment Corporation (there's a company name from the past!). I'm not sure why he saved it, as the food sounds kind of boring, but old menus interest me. -
A couple of recent dinners. Kale caesar salad with chicken An Ina Garten recipe for roasted salmon with melting cherry tomatoes.
-
Nephew's dinner request: Creamy tomato soup and crunchy grilled cheese. Easy enough. The cheese was gouda.

Not homemade. They were Laoban ginger chicken flavor. They had a nice gingery flavor, but were a little too salty for me. Weekend dinners: Friday we had spaghetti with spicy turkey meatballs Saturday we had apple sausages with sauerkraut, potato pancakes and applesauce And Sunday we had spinach and ricotta stuffed shells with a lemony arugula salad

Some recent dinners. Corn and cod green curry from a NY Times recipe. I had a lot of corn to use up, but think the curry would have been better without the corn. I added some spinach too. cod and corn green curry Chicken milanese Jackfruit and avocado tacos Grilled chicken with tzatziki and salad Wonton noodle soup with bok choy and mushrooms

Jumping back in after two weeks away. Sunday we had a spiced chicken and rice dish with roasted broccoli. And last night we had a spicy white bean stew with spinach, and some olive bread that I baked. This went over better than I thought it would. Everyone cleaned their plates.

Four our last dinner, we headed over to Cambridge Beaches resort for dinner at their open air restaurant, Breezes. We rented a house adjacent to this resort a few years ago, and there are incredible sunsets from here. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. Restaurant Menu Drinks. There was a clear tarp between the tables and the beach, and my camera made it look like everyone was in front of a blue screen. We shared two appetizers, the Jamaican spice tuna and the hamachi turadito. The tuna was basically a standard tartare. We all liked the hamachi better Nephew just got a burger Sister had the sole and husband and I both had the catch of the day, which was wahoo Dessert We tried the sticky toffee pudding, which was not sticky, and the yuzu caramel tart, which we all agreed was weird Here are a couple of scenic pictures from our last day to wrap up this visit. See you on the dinner thread!
