  1. article from Information Week Is anyone else aware of this software? Or the concept of the kiosk for the wine buyers?
  2. I think that you will find this thread a particularly interesting beginning to your search .. in the meantime, I will bring up more links for your dining pleasure! Sorry but you will have to scroll upward on this ... Charlotte dining detailed post on dining in Charlotte here not on the eG site but quite a number of links ... and we have a number of Charlotte members here who will no doubt want to chime in with their opinions and recommendations ...
  3. Since I don't live in Greenville and have a close, food-oriented, friend who does, I often rely upon his recommendations and advice ... I did finally locate the website for Devereaux's and it looks to be quite elegant. You might wish to look over their menu. The dishes appear to be upscale but nothing particularly difficult or excitingly creative ... here one has to look to 33 Liberty for something unique ... even Soby's has been known to serve a "store bought" potato salad, I hear ... while Peter David's has been reported to appeal to an older, wealthier crowd and tends to serve food from the Fifties, so to speak ...
  4. This is one which I might answer with suggestions about Soby's, Latitudes, and the Augusta Grill, Cafe Bergamo, or Peter David's ... since Liberty 33 would have been my Number One choice, these are also worth considering ... Options include: the ten best fine dining options listed here ... Soby's Peter David's Restaurant
  5. Maybe the moral of this matrimonial tale is that one can find one's truest love over the simplicity of Roy Rogers Burgers and fries ... Not possible to predict what will be a success ... worked for Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and Trigger (an odd threesome but a success!)... they were (all) together for a very long time ....
  6. Just read the article at Gizmag about The AeroPress Coffee Machine: a new concept in an ancient art. Is this something anyone has bought and tried? Can you tell us about it?
  7. You can find even more on these luscious Portugese tarts. excellent article from the CS Monitor here as well
  8. This makes for great reading, to be sure, but to receive the full impact of this article, tune in to eGullet Radio. It will not only serve (good word to use here!) to increase your appetite for what goes into marketing and starting up this unique enterprise, but, for the visual types out there, the article is excellent ... for you who are more tuned in to audio? This is the very coolest of experiences! Me? I need stimulation on every level and eGullet Radio brings that to me. A definite addition to this already unique website!

    GREENS!

I love salads and make a baby frisee salad from Epicurious that is well loved and often requested. Lettuce wraps, iceberg lettuce wedge with a thick bleu cheese, the Ming Tsai version of garlic spinach, creamed spinach, and many others .. thanks for asking this important question here!
  11. Which brings to my mind a couple of things: #1 what did she eat over the years instead of a Lay's potato chip? other brands? other snacks? made her own potato chips? #2 why did she choose to stop after only one? bad flavor? great self control? didn't like chips at all? #3 who called the Guinness Book of World Records to validate this claim? is she in their books? was there a prize for this self control?
  12. I am assuming that you have seen this website which uses a crumbled rice cookie to resemble the rice in their items of candy sushi. another chocolate sushi variation here
  13. I am ordering a number of English muffins from them, among them the Minis.... I lived in Kansas City, Mo., for a time and they were one of the leading industries there. their websiteI should have expected nothing less than perfection and originality ..

  15. I have asked a member who owns Liberty 33 in Greenville, The Cynical Chef, to give us a definitive answer. If anyone knows, it would most definitely be John Malik! Welcome to eGullet, Amida0616!

  18. But wait a minute, folks ... here is a brand new article in which Sara Dickerman brazenly challenges the Julia Moskin NYT recipes: Taking on Julia Moskin's recipe in the NYT The need for a white sauce step is what makes Dickerman's contention most realistic to me ... that is, after all, how I make mine ...
  19. more issues on farmed shrimp can be found here
  20. I seem to recall a thread on Fizzy Fruit some time back ... apparently it is still popular with kids!
  21. And who can forget the erotic posts filling the thread called Kama Sutra Kwuisine?
  22. but who is to determine which is "dreadful"? I think that a lot of people assume that purchased dishes are better than anything they might even attempt to make at home ... unless we are dealing with this eGullet community .. then, and only then, is it all moot ....
  23. A result that one could easily achieve by dipping panko crumbs into cocktail sauce and omitting the shrimp entirely ... the fried chicken industry also presumes that Americans like battered and fried best of all ...
  24. article in Slate The article is an interesting one ... mostly on the issues which surround farmed shrimp. Shrimp used to be a delicacy served in fancier places ... but with the rise of the Red Lobsters and others of their ilk, shrimp is readily available for much less pricewise. Comments on the article? Surprises?
  25. No offense here but that was pretty much what Mom served you after a day at school ... nothing real arousing actually ... Comfort food doesn't make you sensual and ready for ... it should be erotic ... and ... stir the inner passions and heat ...
