Feb/Mar French Saveurs Magazine has a nice review of this small restaurant in the 6th. The young chef, Claude Lamain has experience with Savoy and Ramsey. Unfortunately, the only websites I can find are in English and in German, neither of which tell you a quarter as much as would one in French! :sad: (I hate translated menues!)

26 euro lunch; 30 euro dinner menu. Closed Sundays.

Some of the (obviously machine) translations in the English version are funny:

Cream of lenses in the fried foie gras

Lawyer's cheese-topped dish and tomatoes, sherbet in the mango (the usual confusion of avocat, lawyer and avocat, avocado)

Saint's nut jacques, fried by pleurotes, butters of vanilla

Browned of hulls and dissolve of leeks in the citronella

My first reaction to the page was to wonder if a machine translating site wouldn't render it back perfectly. I liked "Tart Tatin, freezes vanilla." It sounds like the headline for a news story about a hockey shutout. The photo looks quite nice. I like a simple well lit room where the emphasis appears to be on the food.

It's a web site of some charm, but not necessarily the way it intends. I wonder whatever led these restaurateurs to trust the site designers. You are correct Margaret, some things just don't sound as palatable when translated into English. "The Dung of warm Chavignol on toast" for 5,95 euros at the wine bar le Sancerre in the 7th, for instance. I'm glad to see le Pharamond is still featuring the "traditional fashionable guts of Caen." Neverthelss, it's a bad machine that translates "gratin" as "cheese toppped," especially when it comes to fruit desserts. :biggrin:

The Figaroscope has a very positive review of Aux Saveurs de Claude when it first opened (it must have been more than a year ago). so you might be able to find it on their site.

I went and although the food was quite good,I wasn't really impressed by the atmosphere. But, as I said, this is when it first opened and I haven't been back since.

I had a most disappointing meal there after the Figaroscope rave. Last March 10th, anyway, while well-priced (74 Euros for 2) and while the firsts and desserts were good, e.g. a fine soupe of etrilles and a good tarte tatin, the fish was only so-so and I haven't returned.
