Why can't she go shopping in Georgetown and have dinner at Tosca downtown? Georgetown has no really good Italian restaurants.

Great suggestion but unfortunately it is out of their price range.

I don't remember Tosca costing more than Filomena. Mark's comments are very good ones: there are NO good Italian restaurants in Georgetown.

Alternatively, how about La Chaumiere?

I kinda like Paolo's (mini-chain). They have a really good bean spread with their breadsticks. Moderately priced; casual (but not too) atmosphere.

Aren't those Olives in the spread?

A question more than a recommendation....

Is Il Radicchio (sp?) still around? Basic pasta dishes, but good value, which matters when you're traveling to DC on federal government per diem as I used to do.... :blink:

Most women don't seem to know how much flour to use so it gets so thick you have to chop it off the plate with a knife and it tastes like wallpaper paste....Just why cream sauce is bitched up so often is an all-time mytery to me, because it's so easy to make and can be used as the basis for such a variety of really delicious food.

Il Radicchio has gone down hill BAD. Ain't what it used to be.

The Georgetown branch closed years ago, which is no small loss.

The one on the Hill is still open, although I have no idea why.

That's a shame. When I was going there 6 or 7 years ago, I really enjoyed it.
