ISO lesbian/gay bars in the Northern NJ area. I have friends coming in from out of state and I don't know of any lesbian bars or have any suggestions for them. They are not intersted in venturing into NYC.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

just forwarded this to a gay friend of mine...she gave me the following:

* The Den in Somerset on each first Saturday of the month only

* Connexions in Boonton

* The Colliseum in Sayreville

hope this is some help... :biggrin:

As I suspected Northern NJ is stangely deviod of gay and or lesbian public establishments. Most of the bars listed on the website (in the last post) are in Southern NJ.

I think the close proximity to NYC is probably the reason why Northern NJ has such a dearth of gay or lesbian bars.

Why won't your friends venture into NYC?

Dittoing tommy:

Feather's

77 Kinderkamack Rd, River Edge, NJ 07661

Phone: (201) 342-6410

I tried calling to ask if there are any more in northern NJ they could recommend, but no one answered the phone.

Also, from the link menton posted above:

  • Maxwell's, 1039 Washington St.,Hoboken (201)656.9632
    Alberts, 366 Marin Blvd., Jersey City, (201)222.3282

i wouldn't categorize maxwell's as a gay restaurant/bar, or even any more gay friendly than a lot of places in hoboken. i suppose others on any list might be suspect as well, and a phone call would be in order.

Golden Lion in Milltown, crnr of Milltown Rd and Washington Ave. It's not a pick up place, more of a beer and a shot place, lesbian crowd, very friendly, butchy, lots of after softball/volleyball crowds, pitches of beer, etc. I would classify Milltown as central NJ, howerver, near exit 9.
