True, they're closed for renovations on the rooftop (and kitchen I think), "long time" from what I was told. Pretty dumb timing. There's always pastrami rolls next door at 95 Greene.

From what I've read Glenn and the word "expert" shouldn't be used in the same sentence.

That said, from what I've heard, the Iron Monkey has basically furloughed most of their kitchen staff, and they're just planning to do a bar business for the foreseeable (read: long term, at best) future. Last I heard, this was supposed to go on into the summer.

I didn't see it myself so I can't say for sure, but someone said they saw them changing the locks about a week and half ago. Would seem an odd tactic for renovations but might have had some legit merit (disgruntled folks who'd just been laid off? easier access for contractors?).

What a shame. The Iron Monkey was one of JC's best. I thought they'd completed the rooftop already. I'd love to know where their chef landed, because he is true talent in the kitchen.

Suzz, if you're talking about the last chef, Anthony, he opened or is in the process of opening his own place in N. Bergen. I sort of lost track of the chef before him, Asbel.

Asbel, it's so good to hear from you!! Don't keep your career a secret! -- you're too good a chef [and nice guy!! --- jeez, I miss all those comps at IM :))].

 Actually, I was referring to Asbel. I'm glad to hear that you are doing well, but sorry things didn't work out at IM. Keep us posted on your whereabouts, especially if you cross back over the river.
