The local newspaper, the Wichita Eagle, will e-mail a recipe to readers every day. This is what food writer Joe Stumpe added in today's edition:

Wichita will host a national cook-off next year that should bring quite a bit of attention to the state in the foodie world. Check out The Eagle next week for the full story.

Details when I get them.

If anybody already knows what's up, feel free to let the cat out of the bag.

The cat's now out of the bag: it's a bread-baking contest sponsored by the Kansas Wheat Commission and King Arthur Flour. Check the Pastry and Baking forum for details; I decided to start a new thread there, since that would increase the chances of everyone seeing it who's interested.
