  1. There is a thread on Cope's Dried Sweet Corn.
  2. To make creamed corn out of Copes Dried Sweet Corn, you soak a package of it in milk for about 3-4 hours and then simmer if for about a half hour and voila, you have creamed corn.
  3. OK, I give up. According to the NYT, what is the tastiest bacon? (For my money, Wal-Mart brand bacon is the best, I've had Neuske's and Burger's but both are on a par with Wal-Mart).
  4. Creamed corn made from Cope's Dried Sweet Corn is out of this world.
  5. On the bad back, issue, you probably have a ruptured disc in your lower back. If you are interested in a leg stretching exercise that will allow you to get out of bed and acutally walk around within an hour or so, PM me and I will describe. I have first hand experience.
  6. Get carryout creamed corn from Oceanaire. Very tasty.

    Beef cubes

That sounds GOOD, Janet! And simple too (which is key for me). Thank you! That recipie looks familliar. Belgian Beef Carbonnade perhaps?
  8. eBay has an approved escrow service called escrow.com. Presumably, when a seller advertises escrow as a payment option, you can use the eBay approved service.
  9. Using the "escrow" paymnet option should minimize risk. You don't authorize release of funds until the shipper drops it on your porch and you have had a chance to inspect.
  10. Damn, if you'r not a lawyer. I perceive that you would prefer a gas oven, but onlyl if it is self cleaning. My perception is based on your earlier comment regarding the 36" Viking.
  11. An ideal situation. I envy the 4 minute commute. You demand a self cleaning gas oven. In that category, as near as I can tell, there are two options, the 36" Viking and the 30" DCS. Is there enough difference in price to permit you to do the DCS and add a separate oven and stay within budget. The DCS has 5 burners. The Viking 6 (unless you choose a griddle).
  12. Hypothetically speaking, if you were to suddenly settle that big class action suit, and were in a position to move to a bigger place, how would you feel about leaving all of those new appliances behind? If you plowed your $$$ into a range that you could "take with you" would that be something you might consider instead of doing the rangetop-ovens route?
  13. Why would you get a dual fuel range and a separate wall oven (probably electric)? An all gas range would cost considerably less and give you flexibility of having a gas oven in the range and the separate electric wall oven.
  14. It sounds almost like you are proposing a tailgate party in the parking lot before they open the doors.
  15. Just make sure the killin' takes place in Texas, where the classic defense of "he needed killin'" still is available.
  16. Calvados also should be mentioned on this thread. Made from distilled fermented apple cider, in Normandy, I believe. Hors d'Age and Pays d'Auge are the two types that I recall. The more readily available brands are Busnel and Broulard, iwth Busnel being my favorite.
  17. Have you thought of contracting with the Al Qaida to fly a fully fueled 757 in there to do the domolition. It might be cheaper than the other contractors you talked to.
  18. I've used one of these for abnout 10 years and it still works just fine.
  19. Whoops, looks like the price went up to $35. Still cheap.
  20. You should consider the 12 qt. Cuisinart disk bottom on sale at Amazon for $25.
  21. Whatever defects might exist at the B & E are totally unnoticable at 2 am after last call. 2 scrambled, corned beef hash and home fries (no coffee, it keeps me up at night).
  22. So fire codes allow that thing in anybody's home? I want one too. Scroll down on the website: "Important: This product is designed and approved for commercial foodservice use only. It is not safe for use in the home."
