I am interested in this union to see how Amazon's "cheaper than anyone else" creed will impact the high prices at Whole Foods. Also, Amazon has tried, unsuccessfully, for years to get into the grocery/grocery delivery market and by having a Whole Foods be a delivery hub in various neighborhoods is quite brilliant. edited for clarity

That's a good recommendation. I have enjoyed that sauce, as well, in the past.

Trader Joe's has issued a multi-state recall on their "Grainless Granola" (click for more info). I posted this in the Trader Joe's discussion, as well.

Thanks Shelby (and Elaina)!

There's also Frank's Hot Sauce. If you want something with more of a south-of-the-border taste, try Tapatío. It seems to be on a lot of grocery store shelves around here so it might be easy to locate. I keep a small-ish bottle of it in a drawer in my office at work for my lunches.

I agree. It's more of a finishing oil than a cooking oil. I can't even imagine what bacon and sesame oil would taste like. Anyone want to make a BLT (or BLAT) and experiment for the team?

Can someone provide a link to the original post/recipe for the sauce? Thanks in advance...

My latest obsession for snacking while on eGullet has been Balsamic Vinegar & Basil Triscuits. OMG. They're quite good. I think some mozzarella and a slice of a cherry tomato would be the perfect addition.

Mint...planted in the ground? You're not worried it will take over your garden?

I've tried it. Meh. I believe in this case the problem is that the ingredients sound great but when put altogether, not so much... It's a case of the parts being greater than the sum. If I ordered it again, I would remove the pork "ribs" (store it in the 'fridge to make a sandwich for another day) and eat the burger as a souped-up version of their Western Bacon Cheeseburger. When I tried it, I had their $6 dollar hamburger patty in it which was odd. I found the patty to be unexpectedly crumbly as I ate the burger. Perhaps the patty had been frozen too long (do they freeze their patties or are they a "fresh burger" joint like Wendy's?) and lost moisture. Or perhaps they didn't add enough binder/fat when making the patty. I can't recommend this burger.

It's actually a Spanish word meaning "nothing".

My mom has a set of nice Cutco's but for most slicing and cutting in her kitchen, she uses a knife she bought in some generic Dollar store. The knife edge on it is quite dull and I get frustrated when I grab it instead of the Cutco version. I ask her why she uses it when it doesn't cut, and she replied that she liked the way it fits in her arthritic hands. I agree with Mark who said: Now to get my older brother to put an edge on it sooner rather than later before something happens... edited to add: Porthos, I would vote to put an edge on the knives.

That's my New Year's Day dinner! A great way to start out the New Year... I'm with Ronnie. He has my sympathies.

Mayo (I use Miracle Whip ) mixed with some prepared horseradish. My SIL makes my mom's recipe for meatloaf and she says she hates that my brother automatically slathers it with horseradish. Hey, it's how we were raised!

When I make the Death by Chocolate Trifle, this is the pudding I use in it. It's wonderful.

I forgot this thread existed. M&M's has announced another new "permanent" flavor: White Chocolate (click for the article) I haven't seen them in the local stores, yet. My boss recently vacationed in Memphis, Tennessee, and said he found a new flavor there called "Roasted Honeynut" M&M's. He said he liked the Caramel M&M's better.

It sort of reminds me of TJ's Cinnamon Swirl bread that is also cut thick. I love the Cinnamon Swirl bread but I stopped buying it. I can't eat an entire loaf quickly enough (before I think it's going to go bad/off).

My question is: Why is Taco Bell the company that is innovating chicken menu items and not companies like KFC, Popeye's or Chick-fil-A? Taco Bell had wild success with their Naked Chicken Chalupa (where the breaded chicken patty replaced the taco shell) and now they're featuring Naked Chicken Chips which look like Doritos tortilla chips but are breaded triangles of chicken that can be dipped in a cheese sauce. Certainly, they might be processed versions of McD's McNuggets but still, it's something new & fresh on the fast food market coming from a non-chicken-based company.. Even Burger King has had success with Chicken Fries (breaded chicken "sticks" that look like french fries). KFC did have its Double Down Chicken Sandwich but that was more like an KFC employee secret menu item rather than something meant for the general public (by the way, it's supposed to be making a comeback). Are the people behind Taco Bell's marketing department geniuses? Or is the paucity of new chicken-related items coming from fast food chicken companies just making them look like geniuses?

It's a limited edition McD's sandwich available in Australia and New Zealand: "McDonalds' New Chicken Big Mac Might Actually Be Better Than The Original" Oddly, I wonder how it is to eat. I can see a double burger's success since the patties aren't that substantive. But two chicken patties? Might be more "there" there, to mis-use the old cliché, and maybe that's why it's getting such good reviews down under.

They'e finally being stocked in stores: M&M's Caramel (my apologies for any web ad pop-ups which seem to be so prevalent these days) Strangely, I couldn't find the candy on the M&M web site which seems to exist only to sell M&M-related crap/products. The link above is from an early Food & Wine taste test of the new candy. The candies are odd to eat (as mentioned in the article). They are large-sized and a little chewy. What happens is that, at first, you don't taste the caramel. There's just a crunch and chew. And then more chew. Then eventually all of the candy outer shell and the chocolate dissolve away and there's just a caramel-y finish. Initially, I had tried just one but I think it was more successful in regards to the caramel flavor when I ate two at a time (yeah, that's my excuse as to why the contents of the bag are disappearing so quickly and I'm sticking with that. ). It sort of reminded me of eating Sugar Babies, where there's a long chew factor that's crunchy/grainy at first, then gives way to just the brown sugar-y goodness of the Sugar Babies. Two thumbs up for these odd M&M Caramel candies.
