  1. See that's problem: You don't need to cook everything with low-fat ingredients. You just need to eat smaller portions. (I think I'll have ONE cookie now..)
  2. Now I'm laughing MY butt off at these posts...and I'm hungry.
  3. Jules: Those Weight Watchers cards were hilarious! Thanks for sharing. (I can't complain anymore after seeing that)
  4. Just to let you know, I have written 3 letters of complaint to restaurants in the past 10 years (and a few letters to compliment too) and I have NEVER received a response. Yesterday I was eating at a Red Robin with my kids and I ordered a burger, no tomato. It came with tomatoes which I am allergic to but I just took them off and started eating. The waitress noticed I had been given tomatoes and told her manager who came by and apologized profusely and preceded to take my burger off the check. I did not complain about the tomato to anyone yet management wanted to ensure I come back so they did the extraordinary. Yet a formal complaint to a high-end restaurant is ignored. Doesn't make sense to me! (Yea to Red Robin )
  5. About a year or so ago Consumer Reports listed the top chain restaurants in America according to quality, cleanliness, value, food, service, etc. Do you know which chain got their highest marks? Cracker Barrel. YUCK!!!!!!!!!!
  6. tryska: I read that book! It's all coming back to me now. She is now the Editor in Chief of Gourmet Magazine. Tender at the Bone is a great book and her followup, Comfort me with Apples, is also good. Thanks for all your detective work. Now I just have to re-read that chapter
  7. Thanks Tryska. I will now be obsessed with finding that article! At least you narrowed the search down for me -Gourmet Nazi...nice.
  8. Ok, I understand that every table will appeal to different people but is there anyone out there that actually WANTS to sit by the restrooms? Unless you're a lecherous male and want to watch the girls go by I don't think that table would appeal to anyone. (no offense to lesbians or swingers...you can watch the girls go by too...)
  9. Interesting subject. My husband and I are often led to the worst table in the restaurant. This infuriates me as I always make reservations well in advance, I confirm the reservation, we show up on time if not a little early, and we are always dressed appropriately. It happens so often that we get the table by the bathroom or kitchen door that when we are sat at a good table we thank the host/ess profusely! I have no clue why this happens to us.
  10. you know your post reminds me of an article i read a long time ago about people who never got fed good food growing up are those most obsessed with making and finding good food when they grow up.
  11. The worst meal I ever had took place DURING MY ENTIRE CHILDHOOD!! My parents both cooked and we had a weekly schedule of dinners which consisted of: Swiss Style Steak (block of meat seared in a electric frying pan and then boiled with a can of tomatoes), Hamburger Thing (hamburger meat and Birds Eye frozen vegetables boiled together and ever so slightly drained before serving), Cheez Whiz sandwiches, Baked Chicken with Cream of Mushroom soup and croutons poured on top..chicken was never cooked thoroughly, and finally fatty porkchops fried in bacon grease that sat on the counter for years. This is why I went to culinary school and became a chef!
