  1. I don't remember the name but I'll post after I take a cruise by. I hear good shit about this place.
  2. I've got plenty of singles for everyone. Count me in if there's room. Have we thought about contacting SG and see if they have a corkage fee? I'm more than willing to part with my cellar. Suggestions? Did I mention I have PLENTY of singles?
  3. Did you at least bring your spiegal beer mugs? For Ribs, I like Tiffany's in Morris Plains though they have one also in Pine Brook which is closer to your culinary hell in Kinnelon. POP's in Madison is also very good. There's a place in Mine Hill open only 3 nights a week that serves dry rubbed ribs that's outstanding. Boonton Grill has changed names a couple of other times in the last few years also. Lou
  4. OK Rock, I'm in for Franklin, get Tommy, I'll drive down but no fuckin shots. Gotta be a Monday night when I'm not holding Texas hold'em at my house or Thursday when I'm cocktailing late. Lou
  5. But it's not a survey. ( Preposition starting a sentence, oh well) It's a restaurant listing which is both national and international. If you own a restaurant it certainly bodes well to bbe listed. This is my only objective. Listed as follows and I'll shut the fuck up: An American Grill 246 Rt 10 West Randolph, NJ 07950 Everyone else fill in the blanks. I'm done, Peace out. Word.
  6. Zenmaster help us. Who are you reponding to? Restaurant edge hoping to put his/her mark on the culinary world or a guy who's hoping to keep together the pieces of his personal kingdom? If the guy trying to hold his own in the suburbs and leaving late, Thank you. I have already given up any hope in being in Zagat's at this point in questioning the verasity (sic, much wine after a 1:30 closing ) There are three answers to the question. Mine, the survey and The truth. depends on which side you're on. It disturbs me to have this thought as a loyal conservative but who brought down Nixon? Reporters like Woodward and Burnstein. Whores, but good reporters. Perhaps it is time to question Zagat's as a publication. Worst case senario: Maybe you can give me a job on the line or I can drift along the California coast along the way from SF to Monterey. Appriciate the concern though.
  7. Hmmmmmm As Artie Johnson said on Laugh In. " Very interesting"
  8. How much more room will you have at The Sussex fairgounds than you did at Waterloo. I have attended twice at Waterloo and am considering bring my girlfriend and our four children. For those unfamiliar the food is fantastic and is a lot of fun.
  9. I've got no problems going on-the-record. Zagat's hasn't done me any good after 9 years so why should I worry about offending Zagat's. I am actually going to contact people I know, some affiliated with news groups and attempt to pursue this. Besides, here on egullet I don't hide behind a synomum. As a restaurant owner and chef I have always stood behind my food, whether the critisims were flattering or underwheming. Before 2 days ago I never thought there was a specific reason why I couldn't make Zagat's. Now I have doubts and will look into it.
  10. Most due take it with a grain of salt, the people that are foodies, but Zagat's IS a major source of information that is published and used as a guide mostly for out-of-towners and people unsure where to eat and don't have access to websites such as this. I am seriously think of contacting local stations and newspapers in NY & NJ Ex. Ask Asa Channels 9,11 &12 I mean if Channel 2 is going to have in May, special reports every year during sweeps week, stories on Board of Health reports and unsafe meat maybe they would be interested in a major publication that might be suspicious.
  11. Shit, I wonder if my participation in egullet could be the reason for my being left out of Zagat's. Oh well, if that's the case and it was a choice of the one or the other I simply state " I don't need no stickin Zagats"
  12. Sorry Mark, don't know her, just her rep. When I hit the B&N to pick up the new Zagat's and saw I wasn't in I didn't buy it. can you blame me? By the time the anger has subsided ( somewhat ), I tried to find her email address but was unable. If as a reviewer she holds grudges, that's not responsible journalism. It also lends credence to Viejo's comments about how restaurants make the list.

David, The choice is yours: free meal or Giants football with a man who brings a griddle for the top of his grill for breakfast in the parking lot at 8 am, then switches to steaks at 10am with a good meritage. Think about it. Lou
  14. This is getting ridiculous for me. I haven't been able to get in Zagat's despite the fact I've been open for almost 9 years. I'm at a loss to figure this out as : 1. My customers actually started a grass roots campaign to get me in and sent emails to the Zagat's website with the proper form. 2. Granted, perhaps I should have hired a PR firm during this time, I see restaurants that have been open only a short time get in Zagat's. 3. I have been fortunate enough to have received favorable reviews on this website( and anyone that knows food in NJ posts or lurks here). 4. While I know some folks here don't give much credence to NJ Monthly readers Pool, The Grill has won awards the past few years and no, I don't think it has to do with advertising as I only advertise 3-5 months out of the year. Just curious and blowing off some f***ing steam Lou Now back to the wine

Ooooohhh, David, never realized you had a mean steak. Good job welcoming the virgin. Tommy, congrats on 10,000.
  16. Excellent, call me and let me know what you're in the mood for. See you on the 6th Anthony. Lou
  17. Thanks Viejo, It was fun serving you and your guests, although it oddly felt like a "To tell the truth" episode as I tried to figure out who your guests were. Also another thanks for the wine tasting and a apology for not being able to spend more time at the table, with the economy the way it is, it's imperitive to watch the front and back of the house carefully. Lou
  18. Do you except visa/mastercard? See ya tonight, Lou
  19. It's all good David. AAG has seatings at 12:30, 2;30, 4:30, 5:00, 7:00 & 7:30. 3:00 and 4:30 are the busiest times. Let's go Giants Lou
  20. Viejo, Excellent!! I'll see you tomorrow. Lou
  21. I hate when chef's spy under a different name. I knew you were a shill!!! I'll let you know about a Giants ticket. Someone always gets f****d up on Sat night. Be ready for a early Sunday morning wakeup call.
  22. Have been to Blue Sky 4 times and was never impressed. It wasn't bad but the combinations in dishes just didn't always come together. Ate at 28 a couple of times and it was good, not great but would go again. Although I haven't been for about 3 years. Corso was good also but not enough for me to take a 30 minute ride, when I can be in the city in 40 minutes.
  23. Based on the fact that I was barely of drinking age and just learning wine back in 84' I suggest the Ridge ( Selfish, hoping for a taste) . Otherwise you obviously can't go wrong with the Phelps. Had the Silver Oak '96 (napa) before and it was delicious. Now as I'm done planning my specials for this coming weekend and looking ahead to next week perhaps you could tell me some of your favorite foods. Lou
  24. Viejo. Will you be having any white wine to start? Hope I have enough Reidel for the rest of my customers Obviously the Ridge & Phelps are strong wines, as far as the Silver Oak, do you want me to choose which year to pair with or are you bringing them all ? Lou
  25. Viejo, of course I know you don't like Mattisse. I've been liked with them in past reviews, although I don't think by you. Just wanted to give you an chance to vent.
